I’ve Gone to the Other Side!

OMG! I’ve lost my mind…and please whatever you do, please don’t tell Sylvester and AlleyCat as there will be no living with them.

At the TNNA Winter Market, I had a wonderful conversation with Brenda and Cheryl, you know the girls from Unique New Zealand. The canvas designers that started the Keep Calm canvas craze out there. They were thrilled with what I had done with my Keep Calm and Love Cats and wanted to know if I could do something with this canvas for the Dallas Market. Sure! I love a challenge. I’ve really lost my mind.

While I was walking around with the canvas on the show floor, dog parents would say “well I would stitch that, but it doesn’t have my dog on it” You know I learned from Doug Kreinik years ago that cat people will stitch anything with a cat on it, but dog people want their dog! We brainstormed with Elizabeth of Needlepoint Now and she repainted the canvas for us. Elizabeth, this inquiring mind is wondering …”which of the poodles gave you this paw print?”

So here I am, pulling threads and beads and stitch ideas so that I can stitch away on a canvas that says dogs. Do you think that my cats will ever forgive me? The canvas is all worked out in my head and all that is left is the stitching.

I am not sure if Unique New Zealand has this canvas in their line yet…so if your favorite needlepoint shop has any questions, they can get ahold of me. BTW make sure that you check out the March/April issue of Needlepoint Now as there is a wonderful spread in it on the Keep Calm craze.

I had a great day of stitching yesterday while watching the World Baseball Classic. You would’ve thought that it was Game 7 of the World Series! well for USA and Canada it was as it was win or go home.

I thought that I would try and make it up to the kids by having them both share the limelight.

Sylvester was enjoying a little fresh air since it was warm enough to have the door opened and…

AlleyCat was doing a little bird watching. and until next time…keep on stitching

BTW….I really do love dogs! but that is something else that we don’t need to share with the cats.

About Vicky

Needlepoint, morning noon and evening! what could be better than this? I work on the computer in the daylight hours editing stitch guides and drawing stitches that you will see in the next Needlepoint Now for your stitching pleasure! In between this, there is time for taking pictures of my stitching adventures, Facebook and writing stitch guides for canvas that I am stitching for Needle Deeva, Maggie, Ruth Schmuff and others. Mostly needlepoint you ask? well we will talk about my cats Sylvester and AlleyCat, better known as "the brat". Of course I can't forget Felix who was the love of my life for over 14 years. He broke my heart as he departed for the Rainbow Bridge last year. Oh did I mention baseball?

  1. Charley -the Deeva dog-wants to make sure he is the noble recipient of this award. He wants to remind you that he is much more noble of a canine than a Poodle….besides, he loves the colors…He would have typed this himself but, alas, he has no thumbs…..

  2. I won’t tell on you Vicki! I love just about all animals and love watching Westminster each February. I always get in trouble with Augie on that one and he turns his back on me for 2 days but then lets me make it up to him by petting and giving him lots of treats. Can’t wait to see what you do for this one. And I’m ready for major league baseball to start too. Go Braves!
