Today’s Reason to Celebrate!

Well yesterday actually, but I figure better late than never! Mooch never fails to just make my day and even though this strip was from 10 years ago, he reminded us that yesterday was National Watermelon Day. Now how could I have missed that?

I absolutely love, love, love…did I say love watermelon and have ever since I was a kid. I can easily eat a large, did I say really large? piece for breakfast, lunch or dinner. There are only about 300 different kinds of watermelon in the US & Mexico. Me, I will just take mine red and sweet!

You can find red, pink, white and yellow in various shapes and sizes. I have enjoyed watermelon grilled, in savory salads and with lime and cayenne pepper splashed on it. Did you enjoy some watermelon yesterday?

This got me thinking of all the wonderful needlepoint canvases of watermelon that are out there. Here is just one…

 Watermelon
Artwork by John Johannsen and this is a Melissa Shirley Designs canvas. I have been watching a stitcher on Facebook that has been posting her process on this canvas. Wonderful! just wonderful!

About Vicky

Needlepoint, morning noon and evening! what could be better than this? I work on the computer in the daylight hours editing stitch guides and drawing stitches that you will see in the next Needlepoint Now for your stitching pleasure! In between this, there is time for taking pictures of my stitching adventures, Facebook and writing stitch guides for canvas that I am stitching for Needle Deeva, Maggie, Ruth Schmuff and others. Mostly needlepoint you ask? well we will talk about my cats Sylvester and AlleyCat, better known as "the brat". Of course I can't forget Felix who was the love of my life for over 14 years. He broke my heart as he departed for the Rainbow Bridge last year. Oh did I mention baseball?
