Rainbow Birds

I was originally going to take Tuesday night off from stitching as I thought that “we” needed a little respite from working on the Rainbow Birds. In case you are wondering who I am referring to in the “we” that would be myself and my cats of course! Who else could I be talking about? After reading all of your wonderful notes of how you love how it is coming out, I was inspired to stitch on!

I would rate Tuesday evening as not a good stitching night. First of all the feline children were no where to be found at all! The nerve of them deserting me that way. They couldn’t be mad at me? I have not left them alone at all for like forever, what was the deal? Then the stitching wasn’t speaking to me. I worked on the beak of bird #2 with the ThreadworX 1072 & Krienik #127 and was worried that it was too open, but was reassured by Debbie that I was doing it just right. It may be redone as I wasn’t very careful with my thread as I went from stitch to stitch as I thought that the Kreinik would cover it. Well that plan didn’t work. I moved onto the bird body of bird #2 stitching with Gloriana Crimson that will shade down into Gloriana Cinnamon with accents of Kreinik. I don’t care for the spot that I chose to start the stitch as they are too many partial stitches in a very prominent spot which is not pleasing to my eye. This area will probably be restitched too.

I know that we all lament about restitching an area. Well at least I think that we do as we all sort of speak the same language when it comes to stitching. I have learned that if you even think twice about not being happy about a stitch or an area, it needs to come out! No questions asked and don’t even think twice about it. I know, there is time lost and threads wasted but your eye will always go that spot and you will say to yourself a million and one times “why didn’t I restitch that”?

Last night was a no stitching night, especially after I saw the progress that Coni is making on her Rainforest Crunch! wow is it beautiful and I just love the colors that she selected! Rather  I worked on organizing threads and going the needlepoint closet. I have a few new canvases to pull threads for and a canvas that I want to finish was also moved up to the front of the WIP. Now I just need to find out where I put the threads for this one!

Last but not at all least Coni wrote so eloquently about our needlepoint world losing Judy Harper and Lisa Roswell. I too didn’t know either of these women personally, just knew of them and knew of their work. I thank you Spinster Stitcher and your wonderful tribute to these two ladies from all of us in the stitcher’s world. Thank you for speaking for all of us. and until next time…keep on stitching

About Vicky

Needlepoint, morning noon and evening! what could be better than this? I work on the computer in the daylight hours editing stitch guides and drawing stitches that you will see in the next Needlepoint Now for your stitching pleasure! In between this, there is time for taking pictures of my stitching adventures, Facebook and writing stitch guides for canvas that I am stitching for Needle Deeva, Maggie, Ruth Schmuff and others. Mostly needlepoint you ask? well we will talk about my cats Sylvester and AlleyCat, better known as "the brat". Of course I can't forget Felix who was the love of my life for over 14 years. He broke my heart as he departed for the Rainbow Bridge last year. Oh did I mention baseball?

  1. Vicky, perhaps tonight will be a better stitching night. There are just some days when you can’t do anything right but I comfort myself with the thought that everything I rip out is a lesson on the way to mastering needlepoint. If that is possible!
