Birding, according to Wikipedia “is the observation and study of birds with the naked eye, through a visual enhancement” and in a way that is what we are accomplishing through the eyes of Brenda Hart. The colors in these Laurel Burch Rainbow Birds are just so brilliant and we are bringing them to life with these amazing thread and stitch choices. The medallion stitch that I am working on calls for Splendor 1134 “Dark Orchid” & Mandarin Floss 882 “Very Dark Raspberry”, two colors that I would have never thought to put together, but it works!
I did finish the Brighton stitch last night by adding an additional stitch up against the bead and of course the bead which are Sundance Beads 460D “Wisteria”. I am very pleased with the way it looks. I was originally concerned about the compensating stitches in between the leaves, but the needlepoint gods were watching over me and they all fell into place! The red over the eye was supposed to be a different stitch, but I decided that I wanted to look the same as the other two birds. Stitched in Gloriana Crimson, the same thread that will be used in the body of the middle bird.
For now I am telling myself that I will be taking a few days off from working on the Rainbow Birds. But who knows? and until next time…keep on stitching
This is lovely, Vicky. I can see how you were sucked in. (Bad Brenda!)
I hope you don’t put this one down; I am having too much fun watching!
Vicky,
This is looking fantastic. I love it! I agree with Jane — no time off for you. Those of us out here in cyber-ville need to see more!
