Bird watching!

I would like to rank this canvas right up there as one of the most enjoyable canvases that I have worked on! I am not sure if it’s the Laurel Burch design? the large swatches of great colors painted on the canvas? is it the stitches selected by Brenda Hart? or is the amazing threads including but not limited to ThreadworX, Soie d’Alger, Thread Gatherer’s Silk ‘n Colors, Gloriana silks, beads, Kreinik, Rainbow Gallery Splendor and Planet Earth Silk? or is it all the above? It is hard decision to make!

In the past week while you weren’t looking, I have finished all the gold, restitched the beak on bird #2, added my favorite T stitch in the background behind the leaves with the new Kreinik white, added the compensating stitches needed and also went thread shopping. I need Rainbow Gallery Silk Ribbon for the plume for bird #3 and for some reason I failed to add that to my pile when I was thread shopping at Bedecked & Beadazzled! I guess that I will need to call Ruth as order a care package.

My sister and I are going to Needlepoint of La Jolla today as I need stretcher bars for my new project. Of course I have numerous stretcher bars here, but do I have the right size? of course not! but then we need to support our local needlepoint shops so that they will always be there for us! and until next time…keep on stitching

About Vicky

Needlepoint, morning noon and evening! what could be better than this? I work on the computer in the daylight hours editing stitch guides and drawing stitches that you will see in the next Needlepoint Now for your stitching pleasure! In between this, there is time for taking pictures of my stitching adventures, Facebook and writing stitch guides for canvas that I am stitching for Needle Deeva, Maggie, Ruth Schmuff and others. Mostly needlepoint you ask? well we will talk about my cats Sylvester and AlleyCat, better known as "the brat". Of course I can't forget Felix who was the love of my life for over 14 years. He broke my heart as he departed for the Rainbow Bridge last year. Oh did I mention baseball?

  1. I am enjoying watching you work your way around that fabulous piece almost as much as you are doing it. Your choice of stitches and threads are as over-the-top as the awesome design. Good for you, from someone who likes to be a bit different , but would never have the nerve to take on that piece to begin with.
