Where has this summer gone to? It has just flown by! Today it is officially over, as fall for 2012 begins in the Northern Hemisphere on September 22, 10:49 A.M. EDT. Acoording to internet sources; The word equinox comes from the Latin words for “equal night.” The fall and spring equinoxes are the only days of the year in which the Sun crosses the celestial equator.
This Charlie Harper canvas “Octobermania” sure makes me think of fall. What a great time of the year! First of all it is playoff baseball and World Series…the temperatures are cooler and soon it will be time to get your sweaters out of the mothballs.
I then start to think about Halloween, a holiday that I love, love, love! I think that I now have more decorations for Halloween that Christmas…and I will save that thought for another day.
I think of Mr. Crow, that dapper Halloween crow by Melissa Shirley that I stitched last year for Aristea. Threads and stitches selected by Wendy Harwood & Laura Taylor. He has a soft spot in my heart every time I see him!
Another Melissa Shirley canvas, “Boo Kitty” with stitch guide by June McKnight. This canvas was actually designed for the stitches that are in June’s Halloween stitch book. This was another class that I took at the June market and I think it is time to move it into the rotation…what do you think?
After Halloween the nights are getting longer and with cooler temperatures…
it is time to spend it in the kitchen. Isn’t this Gourmet Collage by Lani just wonderful? I am not sure what I want to do first…stitch or cook?
Speaking of cooking, Thanksgiving is not too far away….canvases by NeedleDeeva.
They will be available very soon from select retailers! So stay tuned for all the specifics.
For now anyway it is time for me to get all my Halloween decorations out of storage and to start going through them. I feel a little downsizing coming.
How did you convince Sylvester and Alley Cat to get so close? When Sylvester puts his head down, he’ll actually touch Alley Cat. Oh my. And look how dainty (in a well-fed way) she is compared with her brother!
Sylvester is a big boy, but not a fat cat! She on the other hand is a tiny cat, but well fed. I have been told that cats that live the streets (hence her name) never sate their appetites, so she tends to enjoy her dry food more often than not! Sylvester used to torment her when she was a kitten, so even though they get along fine now, that are not BFF’s.
I love Hallowe’en! Mr. Crow is just magnificent and I love Boo Kitty! Yes, Alley Cat and Sylvester look like life is really tough…enjoy the rest of your weekend, Wanda
Thank you! and you too Wanda!
