A walk on the wild side!

I had finished working on my stitch guides for the day and it was time to start my evening of stitching. I really do want or should I say need a break from working on the Rainbow Birds. I have been very faithful to that canvas as it has been in my hands pretty much every day for what seems like forever! what can I work on? my hearts for Needle Deeva? no I really wasn’t in the mood for stitching those. Hmmm, what canvas? I started digging through my stitching bags and then said to the cats that were trying to get in the bags too, this is it! Santa riding the panda by Brenda Stofft. I just love Brenda’s canvases and have enjoyed working on most of this canvas!

I started this canvas with Susan Portra last year and I really should be finished with it by now. But that bag! that bag is going to be the death of me yet. Soon I will graduate at the head of remedial needle weaving school. I do a few rows, then I undo a row, stitch a few rows and then rip out even more rows. I will get that bag right, even though I threaten if I need to rip anymore, it will all come out! and never to meet my needle again. I really am on the home stretch with this canvas. I have learned many new stitches and techniques working with Susan on this canvas.

In closing today, my thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Japan as Mother Nature raises her fury. My heart just aches for them and their beautiful country.

About Vicky

Needlepoint, morning noon and evening! what could be better than this? I work on the computer in the daylight hours editing stitch guides and drawing stitches that you will see in the next Needlepoint Now for your stitching pleasure! In between this, there is time for taking pictures of my stitching adventures, Facebook and writing stitch guides for canvas that I am stitching for Needle Deeva, Maggie, Ruth Schmuff and others. Mostly needlepoint you ask? well we will talk about my cats Sylvester and AlleyCat, better known as "the brat". Of course I can't forget Felix who was the love of my life for over 14 years. He broke my heart as he departed for the Rainbow Bridge last year. Oh did I mention baseball?

  1. This looks super, Vicky. I am jealous that you got to work with Susan on this. I have not taken a class from her in years, but I thoroughly enjoyed it when I had the opportunity. Can’t wait to see more.

    • Thank you for all of your compliments Missy! did you go out for breakfast today? actually I have a class with Susan this afternoon, not to rub it in or anything.

  2. What a sensational canvas, and what beautiful stitching Vicky. If it’s any comfort, you are not the only one ripping out. I have put in and taken out four petals three different times. I’m going to look at them in the morning and I’m telling myself that if they seem OK I will leave them alone. But I know even as I type that I will given them one last try. I love the beading in this! RobinG in Indiana.

    • Thank you Robin. I do love beading on canvas as I find it very relaxing. Except for the bag as the bag really is getting the best of me! I find support in the fact that I am not the only one that does reverse stitching more than once on a certain stitch! Thanks again.

  3. I can vouch that you haven’t cornered the market on reverse stitching. My first Lee kimono was stitched at least 4 times when counting all the times I restitched every section; it nearly got the better of me and then I finally finished it. The best part was all that I learned from that experience. The panda canvas is fabulous, will you frame it? Pillow it? Enjoy your class!

    • WIth my feline children in the house…I will frame it. I am encouraged by our kindred stitchers out there that have done lots of reverse stitching and offered their encouragement! Thank you.
