How Will You be Celebrating?

International Cat Day? Simon the Cat says it best here!

Will you be stitching? This was a collection of new canvases that I had earlier this year… the 2 underneath have been stitched for others and for models. The one on the top is by the Elizabeth Turner Collection btw, which will be for me, myself and I, which is probably why I haven’t started stitching it yet!

Just basketweave with Pepper Pot silks…nothing fancy, no beads, just beautiful basketweave!

or maybe this one… I am so excited to be starting this amazing canvas with Tony Minieri in November when he comes to teach at the Needle Nook of La Jolla!

It is a new design by Tapestry Fair that will be introduced at the January 2016 Winter Market here in San Diego. It is entitled “On the Nile” and will compliment Bastet and all the other Egyptian cats and dogs that is part of their line.

Thank you so much Peggi for painting this canvas and for your generousity!

This is my reason to celebrate! AlleyCat and Sylvester as we were chillin’ the other day!

About Vicky

Needlepoint, morning noon and evening! what could be better than this? I work on the computer in the daylight hours editing stitch guides and drawing stitches that you will see in the next Needlepoint Now for your stitching pleasure! In between this, there is time for taking pictures of my stitching adventures, Facebook and writing stitch guides for canvas that I am stitching for Needle Deeva, Maggie, Ruth Schmuff and others. Mostly needlepoint you ask? well we will talk about my cats Sylvester and AlleyCat, better known as "the brat". Of course I can't forget Felix who was the love of my life for over 14 years. He broke my heart as he departed for the Rainbow Bridge last year. Oh did I mention baseball?

  1. EVERY day is Cat Day at our house….! Sometimes I enjoy the relaxation of just stitching basketweave…no choices to make. I just finished basket weaving Kirk and Hamilton’s “Abbey Road”, but I did use Jacquard stitch to fill in the expanse of white in the “street sign”. I’ve started Millennia Designs “Shaker Peacock Patchwork”, and that will be all basketweave due to all the color changes and smaller motifs. I may change the background, but I think the areas around the motifs are too small, and there would be a lot of compensation and not a very good ground to see the entire stitch pattern. I need to get back to cross stitching holiday ornaments for family. I’m halfway done with the stitching and then there’s finishing to do. And it’s already August! Needlepoint is keeping me too darn interested!
