and you are thinking, and just what does this have to do with stitching? well absolutely nothing! but sometimes life is more than just needlepoint. Today is when our city lights up with the spirit of thousands of individuals from all walks of life fighting cancer one step at a time.
Even though at times The San Diego Rock and Roll Marathon is considered just a 26.2 mile block party that runs through the heart of the city, there is allot of money raised from this event to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. This year was sold out to a record number of runners that will run a specifically designed route. A route that will take you through the most scenic parts of San Diego such as downtown and the Gaslamp Quarter, past the Convention Center and Mission Bay, through Petco Park, the home of the San Diego Padres, Balboa Park and through Mission Beach under the bluest of blue skies this morning. Freeways have been closed, some streets have been rerouted to accommodate the run and the first pitch of the baseball game today has been delayed for a few hours! Live bands and cheering stations will line the course to cheer the runners on and they will end at an elaborate post marathon concert. Traffic could be a nightmare, so I will stay close to home today.
The kids are taking a little nap so that they will have energy to run their own marathon around the house! They have been enjoying sleeping on this box and at times pushing it around the house, so I don’t have the heart to recycle it yet. I will stitch a little, stitch guides to finish up for Sample It Night next Friday and of course until next time…keep on stitching
Looks like the weather will be nice for the Marathon…I hope. Great cause…lost someone to Leukemia last October. I thought of your Babies yesterday. We were going thru some Needlepoint and getting it ready for ebay and there were bags on the floor. My granddaughter has 2 cats and they were having a ball getting into the bags and looking for yarn. Ellie got tired and fell asleep in a bag. Imagine my surprise when I tried to pick it up.
Enjoy your day of stitching and guide writing.
