I am thinking that this one is not technically the bluebird of happiness, but rather the fuchsia bird of happiness! but he or she as the case maybe is very happy. We had a great stitching night as I decided not to worry about the middle bird for now and work on another area. I started off by stitching more of the gold and finished the gold on all the leaves. I still have all that gold to do on the plumes of the other two birds yet and I will tackle that a little at a time. The stitches that have been selected for them will not cover the lines up as in bird #1. The fuchsia plume is actually a tent stitch and the last bird will have silk ribbon in a satin stitch, giving it some dimension.
The cats, Sylvester and AlleyCat decided that tonight it was okay to hang out with me on the couch while I was stitching. AlleyCat on my lap and Sylvester at my side, threads and stitches close by so as not to disturb them. The fuchsia bird calls for this medallion stitch and it was quite challenging! I kept having to restitch as I just wasn’t getting it. Finally on the 3rd try I finally got it! This color of Splendor is “purrfect” and there is yet another part of this that needs to be stitched yet with Mandarin Floss. I always save all the compensating stitches for when I first sit down to stitch and my mind is fresh. I really try not to do the compensation at the end of my stitching evening as I usually wind up needing to restitch it.
I am sure that I will continue working on this fuchsia bird till it is finished, but who knows that may change once I sit down and pick up my needle?! Isn’t that right AlleyCat?
and until next time…keep on stitching
Vicky,
This is incredibly beautiful. I love the design and the stitching is gorgeous. You have earned the right to consider yourself a queen of enabling, so just find yourself a spot on the throne. I’m sure Jane at Chilly Hollow won’t mind sharing. Now, which one of these magnificent canvases shall I claim … birds … horses … dogs … sorry, no cats allowed at this all canine-household. Thanks again for the great blog. RobinG in Indiana.
I understand Robin G as no self respecting canine household would allow a cat in! and for me and my feline children, no dogs allowed…
I love the birds but that darn Alley Cat is the best!!! You are inspiring me to paint a cat. Or to paint my Sam…on a canvas of course, not the parrot.
more cats please as one can never have too many cats, right Robin? thanks so much Sharon!
