Well not by them! what where you thinking? They are too busy working on getting their beauty rest. Sylvester & AlleyCat are very rarely seen together as they just are not BFF, period. Even though Sylvester is the elder statesman of 14 years and AlleyCat is the young whippersnapper of 5 years, she is the boss and never ever lets us forget that! She allows Sylvester to share her house with her.
Everytime I go to CostCo, I try to be a good cat mom and bring home a box for the kids to get into. Has to be the right size, not too big and not small, sides a good height, blah, blah, blah. Many times as I am shopping I will just grab an empty box as I go along. Always thinking ahead. I think that they approve.
So while the kids are busy, I thought it would be time to get to work on the Dishwashing Pixie. She really is so close to being finished and I am sure that Ruth would love to have her in her hot little hands! I stitched on the brush first with 2 colors of Boucle’ in random long and short. Not my favorite words “long and short” & “random” bad words! bad words! I like the way it looks and did not struggle with it. Added some more soapy water and a few more bubbles in all sizes. Sorry Sharon I never did use the pearls as they were just too big and looked out of place.
Now it was onto the skirt…Ruth’s idea was to “ruche” or gather up Frosty Rays. Now I have hardly ever stitched with Frosty Rays, let alone ruche it! I tried, I ripped, I tried again, I ripped again, I swore, I cursed, I ripped again swearing and cursing some more and this is the final take. Maybe a little bit full and I can go back in and tack it down some more to bring down the fullness
I tried the silk ribbon for her apron strings, but it wasn’t the right green and out it came! I added a few more French knots for her apron strings. Today I will be working on their stitch guides and the needlepoint pixie. and until next time…keep on stitching
She is ADORABLE!!
WhenI was writing one of my books -SuZy’s Darn Stitches, I think, I looked up the hated word random. My favorite synonym is higgeldy-piggeldy! So, when you do random, if you think of this word, it should make you smile!
SuZy
She is super cute. And I think the brush may steal the show, which is saying a lot because the dishes, soapy water, background, and soap bubbles are terrific. (Never would I have foreseen such an adorable outcome for this canvas. I do envy those of you who can “see” the stitches.) But I’m not crazy about the skirt–it looks heavy like wool that needs to be sheared.(Sorry, so very sorry. I don’t like to critique a Stitch Goddess, much less the collaborative efforts of two of them!) The Princess owns one of those skirts with a gazillion layers of tulle, so if I were stitching it, that’s what I’d use (or some other very fine gauzelike material): maybe three or four loose ruffled layers gathered with running stitches and then tacked in place. Or what if you took the metallic strand out of the Frosty Rays and then did something akin to layered lazy daisies?–K.B.
Thank you! I agree with you KB, I am not thrilled with the skirt either…but I don’t always see those fun stitches. Lazy daisy is another one that is a hated stitch beause it is random!
Looks great, Vicky. I love SuZy’s synonym for the hated ‘random’. That is a riot. There is also willy nilly, one of my favorites!
Oh Vicky! Thanks tons for the belly laugh! I needed it, today! Although it’s Father’s Day,
our 14 yr. old son is being extremely difficult, and it causes great angst…so thanks for the
hardy guffaw…between the kitty tale and the ripping and swearing, I was truly entertained!
Oh, btw, i vote w/ KB on the skirt! My monitor is not as clear as I would like, and it does
look wool-like to me, also. I know you’ll come up with something fabulous! xoxo, Kelly
She is looking quite good and love the cup and bubbles. The “kids” make me smile and always love to see them in the boxes. Way to funny and so typical. Of course, they don’t have you wrapped and they aren’t spoiled. Oh no!!!

Kelly, I’m sorry to tell you that my nearly 17-year-old does the same thing. I don’t know when they grow out of it, but I hope that it is soon. Vicky, I think one of the reasons I like your stitching so much is because everything behaves! My stitching rarely behaves.–K.B.
Thanks KB! well sometimes it behaves and sometimes it doesn’t and when the latter happens I am very upset with myself! Thanks again
