Who Doesn’t Love a Day Off?

Labor Day which is the first Monday in September, celebrates the social and economic achievements of the workers…hey that’s us! A day that the banks and post offices are closed and you don’t have to worry about getting a parking ticket in La Jolla if you are parked just 1 minute past that hour that you are allotted!

If you have been following my blog and the antics of Sylvester and AlleyCat for abit, you know that I love Mutts! The cartoon goings on of Mooch and Earl and all of the other characters of the strip. This was me yesterday in between getting unpacked, doing laundry, watering some of my plants and orchids, loving the kids and stitching.

This is what I was stitching on, something for me…can you believe it? Canvas by Kirk & Hamilton and comes with a stitch guide. My question to TSA… there was 1 strand of ThreadworX Overdyed Wool, just enough to do the hat and where is it? I put this in my suitcase for the return trip and I know that this bag was inspected…so where is this single strand of thread now? How do expect me to finish this piece? I almost bought a skein of this at Fireside to use in the Bakers Dozen of Christmas Cupcakes by Needle Deeva and for some reason I didn’t. So I guess I am making an order for it today!

I will not have the luxury of really taking the day off today. More laundry and housework to do, more plants to be watered. I need to complete my charts and reviews for Needlepoint Now Novemeber/December Issue, finish up writing a stitch guide and print some guides for Baltimore. I will actually be repacking so that I can attend the TNNA Fall Trade Show. I can’t wait! Lots of great plans inbetween working. Eating crabcakes, hard shell crabs along with Dogfish Head Craft Brewed Beer, a visit to a few of the local shops, breakfast at Miss Shirley’s, maybe a game at Camden Yards…Orioles vs Yankees and ooh yes did I mention work?

Deeva will be in room 728 at the show hotel. Hope that we will see you there! the Fab Firs will be there in living color

Thanks to Sharon G who is bringing them back from Phildalphia for us. If you are attending the show, please stop by for a visit and a look see.

I probably took around 500 pictures or so in Phildalephia, so I will have lots more stitching to show you…and do I have a story to share with you about “the bag.” Tomorrow! tomorow! I can tell you that Sylvester did miss his bag.

and until next time…keep on stitching

About Vicky

Needlepoint, morning noon and evening! what could be better than this? I work on the computer in the daylight hours editing stitch guides and drawing stitches that you will see in the next Needlepoint Now for your stitching pleasure! In between this, there is time for taking pictures of my stitching adventures, Facebook and writing stitch guides for canvas that I am stitching for Needle Deeva, Maggie, Ruth Schmuff and others. Mostly needlepoint you ask? well we will talk about my cats Sylvester and AlleyCat, better known as "the brat". Of course I can't forget Felix who was the love of my life for over 14 years. He broke my heart as he departed for the Rainbow Bridge last year. Oh did I mention baseball?

  1. Sylvester needs his own bag, of course he would still like yours better. My cats loved to sleep in my”teachers bag” I always told them they would be really upset if they woke up at high school One day.
I really like the polar bear you are stitching for yourself and the cat you worked on in Philly is fantastic. Have fun and enjoy the trip.

  2. Maybe, just get another one for yourself which, of course, he will want your new one. Then you could have your original bag back? Seriously, where’d you get Sylvester’s fabulous bag?
