Way too many choices! and way too many possibilities! my working table continues to be a mess as I look for the “purrfect” color choice in threads, beads and then just the right stitch as I continue to work on the Needle Deeva Halloween Hearts. I found a great color of green for the witch’s face and for the background of the bird in a Presencia floss, but thought twice about it. I am not sure there are that many shops that carry this brand of floss, even though it is a pleasure to stitch with. I was going to Google a conversion chart, but then I again went through the “stash” and found a Splendor and a Mandarin Floss that will work! I am thrilled.
Elizabeth gave me a great color of Gloriana Princess Perle from her “stash” when I was visiting a few weeks ago. I want to try something wild and crazy with the witch’s hair. Originally I was going to use Ada’s Rainbow, but I would need to cut too much of it out. I must admit that it looks awesome in my mind, but when I get it on canvas, that sometimes can be another story!
There are a bakers dozen of these Halloween Hearts with 8 stitched now and only 5 to go! The last one that I will stitch is my least favorite which is a spider queen, but on this small canvas she really doesn’t look too regal. There are a total of 4 sugar skulls in the collection, three are all stitched and the fourth will be beaded! I have these new needles that my beading mentor Brenda R. gave me and I am anxious to really work with them. They are from Japan and they are packaged oh so cleverly. They have a gold eye and are a little longer needle, which makes picking up the beads so much easier. Pictures will be coming very soon, pictures of the hearts, pictures of the beading needles.
Things are settling in around the kitty kingdom. Sylvester hangs out with me on the couch as I stitch away and loves laying on my threads. He talks back to my cell phone when it signals a text or a message. AlleyCat, well after a few days of just can’t get enough of my company after leaving her alone is back to her normal well I ‘ll see you when I see you. Sometimes she shows up for meals and sometimes doesn’t. Sometimes it is just too much of an effort to want to join us in the kitchen for breakfast. Sometimes she approves of the menu, and well sometimes she doesn’t…but I still love her!
I plan on getting in a few baseball game and lots of stitching this weekend. I think that the Needle Deeva Hearts are going to be put away for a few days as I sort of need a break from them. Time to work on Sharon G’s Deco Kitty…yes the new one. I plan on taking the other Sharon G cat piece with me on my next road trip which is coming up very soon…but that is a story for another day.
AlleyCat is gracing me with her presence as she supervises my thread selections. and until next time…keep on stitching
Hi, Vicky….just a thought for you to consider. I used copper colored SNOW for curls for a witch’s hair and it really turned out great. When the hair was all done, it was thick, fluffy and all over the place…Claire
Hi Claire! thanks for the great tip…
Those hearts are gorgeous. Guess – and hope – they’ll become a club. As for cats laying on threads, isn’t this a fact? One day someone asked me what thread I used in a canvas and when I thought of it the answer was clear: Angora and a touch of cat hair. As I stitched I would notice the cat hair in it. I just let it stay – their little contribution to the masterpiece 🙂
Thanks Palma and those hearts are so fun to stitch! ooh you are too funny, Angora with a touch of cat hair… AlleyCat really sheds allot always, so its a way of life for me.
