The Long & Short of Canvas Embellishment is Almost Over…

where has the time gone? not only do pigs fly, but time sure does! I can’t believe that it is already the last day of seminar…where has the week gone to? I know that you are looking at this canvas and saying to yourself, is that all she has done after 4 days of class? well actually 3 days and a few hours in class. First of all, I am not a fast stitcher in class, especially when I am trying to nail down a new stitch or technique. Secondly allot of time is spent working the room and looking at the other 51 canvases in there to see what magic is going on with them. Last but not at all least, several trips a day to the shop are made for threads.

When trying to come up with the perfect background thread color for this design by Leigh, The Hall of the Sacred Bells, Tony walked by and quickly rattled off a thread and its number only to discover that it was the absolute perfect match! Now not that I ever doubted you Tony. He then sat down and proceeded to chart out a stitch just for my canvas. OMG, how does he do it?

It was actually Beth’s technique class today and I am sorry for not getting that correct!  on the correct way to stitch a Tartan plaid, which was very interesting. Of course later in the evening when I ran into Johnathan, the winner of the Princess Grace Award with his plaids honoring his Scottish ancestry, I asked him if he stitched it that way or did he do it in traditional basketweave? He of course stitched in basketweave.

The Life Patron Luncheon saw us gathered together for a delightful meal and a presentation by a local textile person speaking of the costumes that they wear during their fiesta parades, along with the history behind them.

After class was over for the day we quickly moved into Salon E to set up for Expo Night. I gave myself plenty of time to get ready and soon there after my assistants Elizabeth, Jean & Tru arrived to help. Thank you all so much for your help. I had way too much fun!

We are all ready to go! This gave us all time to do our very own shopping before everybody else arrived.

This was Mindy’s table which is always the busiest table during Expo Night. With all of her wonderful designs, how could it not be? I was eyeing a few of her newest such as the one right above with the 3 birds, the colorful flower that is to the right of the bird with colorful pinks and fuschias.

This is Mindy’s very latest creation, so new that they were taking orders for this canvas. Isn’t this one wonderful? I did think long and hard about this one.

Oh by the way did I mention that we have all the stitches planned out for my pagoda? Now finding stitching time for this canvas, now that is a different story! and until next time…keep on stitching
