Oh AlleyCat, you are such a Ham!

Lots of you have asked to see the entire quilt that my sister made for me earlier this year. The pattern is called “Fortune Cookie.” I saw it in person while we were together fabric shopping last year. After I added it to my wish list for someday when you have a chance , my sister Mary attended classes for a month of Sundays at the Joyful Quilter. They are located in Glenville which is in upstate New York outside of the capital district.

I thought of a million and one different ways that I could photograph this myself and get the whole enchilada in the picture. Well that wasn’t going to happen and then I spent more time trying to get a picture without Miss BusyBody, so I eventually gave it up and let her enjoy stealing the show yet again.

I went from the floor, to the bed, to over a chair, to standing on the bed, to this, to that and this is the best picture I can come up with. I need to be able to hang it on the wall and stand quite a bit of a distance away from it. I will not blame this one on my lack of photography skills, just that I don’t have the equipment to facilitate this picture taking thing! Doesn’t my sister do amazing work? I never really did master the sewing skills.

I have been so busy working on the files for Elizabeth for our November/December issue of Needlepoint Now, that I haven’t really done much of anything else. Haven’t even had a chance to unpack my seminar pieces and when I did think about it for a fleeting moment, Sylvester had made himself quite comfortable on top of the box and I didn’t want to disturb him. I guess in the box, on the box, what’s the difference? Anyplace will do for a little cat nap.

I can’t make up mind…do I feel like stitching the last Halloween Heart? or do I feel like Deco Kitty? or one of my new projects? or maybe goof off? no I have way too much to accomplish in a short time, so there is no slacking off for me. No gabbing on the phone, no snoozing on the couch like certain feline children. and until next time…keep on stitching

About Vicky

Needlepoint, morning noon and evening! what could be better than this? I work on the computer in the daylight hours editing stitch guides and drawing stitches that you will see in the next Needlepoint Now for your stitching pleasure! In between this, there is time for taking pictures of my stitching adventures, Facebook and writing stitch guides for canvas that I am stitching for Needle Deeva, Maggie, Ruth Schmuff and others. Mostly needlepoint you ask? well we will talk about my cats Sylvester and AlleyCat, better known as "the brat". Of course I can't forget Felix who was the love of my life for over 14 years. He broke my heart as he departed for the Rainbow Bridge last year. Oh did I mention baseball?

  1. Vicky, When I die, I want to come back as one of your cats….
Mary this quilt is simply beautiful – I can’t believe the cat’s tushie is on it! They have no idea how good their lives are – especially the one that came out of the garbage can to this house.

  2. That’s why Alley Cat stole my heart.
Love the way you displayed the photos – it seems Sylvester is looking down on AC as if saying “what are you up to down there?”

  3. Vicky, I also wish I could take a nap and goof off, but that work must get done. Although, I would certainly consider trading projects (your stitching for my editing) for a day or two. 🙂

  4. Your quilt is gorgeous. Your sister is very talented…seems you bothhave speial talents.

Thanks for sharing, Vicky. Love the colors and of course, Alley cat…who is truly very regal

  5. Vicky, the quilt is amazing. I had not read today’s blog post yet when we gabbed on the phone for an hour — sorry. Didn’t mean to keep you from your projects. Oh what am I saying? Glad we chatted and it kept both of us from working too hard! xxx ooo
