Just a Little Basketweave Please!

So many stitches, so many ideas…so where do I begin? sometimes it comes easy to me, sometimes I know what is just the “purrfect” stitch and then sometimes, well you know the canvas is being very difficult. I am being challenged at the moment with the border on Witchy-Poo. Just the right stitch, just the right combination of threads and beads, just the right look to make it look very special…or do I want to go for a spooky look, or a wild and crazy look? Decisions! decisions! so late last night the books came out for a little perusal and hopes for some inspiration. That’s why I love my basketweave so much, no thinking, no reverse stitching, just stitch!

A couple of necessary errands were on the to do list yesterday and I made sure that I took care of them early. A few things to do around the house and then it was time to reward myself with a little stitching time and a baseball game or two as the playoffs begin. I finished a little detail on the cat’s face and then it was onto the pumpkin, which I knew I was beading it, but did I want to bead it solidly? well I knew that one tube of beads wouldn’t be enough, so that idea was out. Did I want to use brick stitch beading? or bead it with a tent stitch between each bead? which color bead? how many ply to do stitch with? after about an hour of trial and error, I came up with hopefully the right combination.

It was a good 8 hours of stitching as I fretted would I even have enough thread? and then would I need more beads? Oh please, don’t let me run out, I am on a roll! I was careful not to pour out too many beads into my working tray, you know just incase there was a litte disaster, which there wasn’t thank you! The pumpkin is finished and I am hoping that it looks as good this morning as I thought it did last night. I may need to go back and lasso more of the beads, but then for sure I will probably need more thread.

No picture of Witchy-Poo this morning. She is being a little difficult as we need just a bit of restitching on her hat, so she doesn’t want you to see her right now. Sylvester wasted no time getting ready for stitching time. At least he didn’t take my seat!

AlleyCat was watching her newest channel of kitty tv. We are going to stay close to home today and stitch…maybe a little putsing around the house…maybe a little reading. and until next time…keep on stitching

Needlepoint, morning noon and evening! what could be better than this? I work on the computer in the daylight hours editing stitch guides and drawing stitches that you will see in the next Needlepoint Now for your stitching pleasure! In between this, there is time for taking pictures of my stitching adventures, Facebook and writing stitch guides for canvas that I am stitching for Needle Deeva, Maggie, Ruth Schmuff and others. Mostly needlepoint you ask? well we will talk about my cats Sylvester and AlleyCat, better known as "the brat". Of course I can't forget Felix who was the love of my life for over 14 years. He broke my heart as he departed for the Rainbow Bridge last year. Oh did I mention baseball?
