It’s Going to be a Meowy Christmas!

I am not sure what is more exciting, actually adding the last few stitches in your piece and taking it off the stretcher bars and saying “I am finished!” or seeing it when in comes back to you from the finishers?

Well way back when I teased you with this little snippet of my beading and no body questioned as to what this tail belonged to?

Well this is what the the tails belongs to! This is a canvas by Shelly Tribbey that I worked on last Christmas time. It just came back from the finishers & I am absolutely thrilled with it! yes I know that this finishing is absolutely over the top, but for Christmas, anything goes! She will await her debut with her brother, which is a black cat that I did a few years ago. I will share a picture of the two of them together when the my decorating begins.

This was really my first canvas experience with allot of beading. It was a great learning experience and I just fell in love with beading on canvas. The ornament was kind of a given to bead, but the Christmas trees? well there was nothing else in stitches and threads that worked, so why not? My beading mentor gave me the best colors to use for the trees and I love the way it looks.

Yes AlleyCat is sitting on the stove…well I don’t cook, so why not? she was sitting there and talking up a storm. I wish I could understand about 1/2 of what she says. There is so much to figure out what AlleyCat is tyring to tell me… she was watching me straighten up the kitchen. She really does not pester for treats as she know where her dry food bowl is and frequents it often enough. There are easily 19 kinds of meows, all with very distinct sounds. The meow is only one of at least 13 different categories of cat vocalizations, which includes chatters, chirps, squawks, hisses, yowls and caterwauls. So that all adds up to way too many possibilities!

So all of a sudden she disappears and where do I find her? Someplace where she shouldn’t be parking her behind. and until next time…keep on stitching

About Vicky

Needlepoint, morning noon and evening! what could be better than this? I work on the computer in the daylight hours editing stitch guides and drawing stitches that you will see in the next Needlepoint Now for your stitching pleasure! In between this, there is time for taking pictures of my stitching adventures, Facebook and writing stitch guides for canvas that I am stitching for Needle Deeva, Maggie, Ruth Schmuff and others. Mostly needlepoint you ask? well we will talk about my cats Sylvester and AlleyCat, better known as "the brat". Of course I can't forget Felix who was the love of my life for over 14 years. He broke my heart as he departed for the Rainbow Bridge last year. Oh did I mention baseball?

  1. Your Shelly kitty is stunning. The bow is cute (but what is it with finishers and enormous bows?), but IMO it’s competing with the stitching (which a bow should never do). Can’t wait to see pictures of the pair.

  2. What a wonderful way to finish this canvas! and your stitching is exquisite. I’m going to have to get those canvases to do for my two boys as well. thanks for sharing!
