A Little Christmas Decorating!

I am still stitching round the clock on Mr. Crow, only using around 8 spools between 2 colors of Kreinik just for the feathers, countless hours and a few choice words! The feathers are finished and I just needed a little break, a little diversion, rest my back and my fingers. So I thought I would finish off my Christmas decorating.

So here are my twins! Both of these canvases are by Shelly and I so enjoyed stitching them. The black one was stitched a few years ago, well you know I had a black cat or two and what a better way to show my love for the cats that stitch one! The finisher worked her magic and only for Christmas it is okay to go over the top in my eyes. The finisher knew that I had 3 cats, so she worked in 3 little felines into the bow. What a special touch that means so much to me. You can see one poking its face up over the top! Maybe that is AlleyCat?

I stitched the black kitty before beads were such a staple in my repetoire, so when stitching the white cat, I sure made up in the beading department! Both the trees were beaded as well as the ornament that hangs from her tail. I think that they make quite a handsome couple, don’t you?

A little more decorating with stitching. Kelly Clark’s Santa was a class that I took through TNNA when Kelly first burst upon the scene in the needlework industry. I had it made into a package and I was so thrilled with the way it came out. Gay Ann Rogers’ Noel Banner and a Washington DC Santa face by Shelly as a memory of the ANG Seminar that I attended there in 2001 finish off this display.

Okay Mr. Crow, yes I know that you are patiently waiting for me! All I need to do is finish the bow tie which will consist of stringing beads to hopefully create a jaw dropping effect and a silk flower for the stove pipe hat. A layered flower using Gloriana and River Silks in wonderful colors of gold and filled with beads. I hope that the needlepoint gods will be with me and give me flying fingers. A road trip to Aristea looms ahead of me so that I can deliver him! A stitch guide will need to be written by them before he can be sent off to the finishers.

Sylvester was trying to stay awake so that he could keep his eyes on the moving threads. and until next time…keep on stitching

About Vicky

Needlepoint, morning noon and evening! what could be better than this? I work on the computer in the daylight hours editing stitch guides and drawing stitches that you will see in the next Needlepoint Now for your stitching pleasure! In between this, there is time for taking pictures of my stitching adventures, Facebook and writing stitch guides for canvas that I am stitching for Needle Deeva, Maggie, Ruth Schmuff and others. Mostly needlepoint you ask? well we will talk about my cats Sylvester and AlleyCat, better known as "the brat". Of course I can't forget Felix who was the love of my life for over 14 years. He broke my heart as he departed for the Rainbow Bridge last year. Oh did I mention baseball?

  1. Gorgeous decorations Vicky, love what you did to all of them, especiallyt he bows on the presents in the black cat design. As I mentioned in Needlepoint I need to have these as they’re perfect for Duchess and Midnight (Ebony and Ivory, very close buddies now). Will look them up

    • Thanks Palma! Those bows were quite the challenge until I found just the right thread, which was the old YLI Ribbon Floss that was wrapped on the tubes. Purrfect color and easy to work with! yes I think that you need these canvases.

  2. Vicky, the canvases are adorable! I have the black cat and have not stitched it yet, but you have given me motivation! How did you stitch the bows on top of the package? Thanks, Chris

    • Thank you Chris! The bows are uncut Turkey Work and I always have to look it up in Jo Christensen’s book every time to get me started. I used YLI Ribbon Floss, the stuff that we used to get on little spools? They still make that thread, but package it differently now. I love to stitch Christmas pieces now for next year!
