On the Road with the Fab Firs!

I am ready to start packing again! It is just about time for Destination Dallas, the Spring Needlework Market and the sneak peak of Needle Deeva’s newest retailer club is about ready to hit the streets.

This is a series of 9 trees in a wonderful palette of tomato red colors and leaf greens that I have been stitching on. Actually I have been living, eating, drinking and breathing these trees as I strive to have them finished for the Columbus market. They will be brought to you with the stitch guides featuring a variety of threads, beads, Swarovski Crystals and Margarites. You can actually see one that is finished peaking out from the bottom of the pile, as they are covered with some of the threads that I am using. Planet Earth Fiber Silk, Splendor, Petite Silk Lame’ Braid, Neon Rays Plus, Kreinik, Sundance Beads, Soie d’Alger and of course the beads, books, needles, glasses and snap trays are not far behind.

If you are planning to be at the Destination Dallas market, the Fabulous Firs and NeedleDeeva of course will be in room 503 and we would love to see you. Better yet, register for my class on Sunday night where I will be teaching the first one in the series. Deeva has added more canvases to the class allotment, so there may be an open spot.

Decorate your tree in style! Stitched in Planet Earth Silks, Soie d’Alger, Splendor, Mandarin Floss, Kreinik and 4 colors of beads. Basketweave, beading, combination stitches all blend together to make a statement in the debut of this new series by NeedleDeeva. If beads are not your thing, there will be alternatives ideas suggested to make this tree truly your own!

All of the trees will be traveling with me, so you can see them all in their various stages of completion. When I am doing a club project, I like to have more than one on stretcher bars as at times I can stitch them production style. For example, there is just a little touch of white Splendor on them…. so rather than stranding and threading up for a dozen or so stitches for each canvas, I will just travel from canvas to canvas to canvas with that white in my needle.

NeedleDeeva has a surprise in store for us with her newest retailer club, but shhh I can’t tell you now…but I am sure that you will love it! I will be offering an extra option for the shops if they wish me to kit the Swarovski crystals in with the stitch guides. We may have another special event planned with the Fabulous Firs, that will be announced soon and you will be the first to know about it!

I have been spending way too many hours at my Mac lately as I try to ready the stitch guides for the Fab Firs. Thank you very much to my proofer who with very little notice, said no problem, send them over and I will get them right back to you! She really makes me think about my wording and hopefully I will strive for a purr~fectly fine stitch guide. Maybe one of these days I will do a blog and take you through the writing of a stitch guide as it is not as easy as you think! I still have at least another full day or more ahead of me.
Speaking of cats, here is you know who…who has made herself very comfortable in my suitcase. Yes it is out as I start to pack and after all the stitching stuff, there will probably be not much room for my clothes? Room for the cats? forget it! Plus they love staying with Rose as she really spoils them.
Somebody really wants to go with me… no AlleyCat you need to stay home and watch the birdies. As always when I hit the road, I probably won’t see you for a few days as I am always at the mercy of do I have internet connections or not? or do I have the time to blog?and until next time…keep on stitching

About Vicky

Needlepoint, morning noon and evening! what could be better than this? I work on the computer in the daylight hours editing stitch guides and drawing stitches that you will see in the next Needlepoint Now for your stitching pleasure! In between this, there is time for taking pictures of my stitching adventures, Facebook and writing stitch guides for canvas that I am stitching for Needle Deeva, Maggie, Ruth Schmuff and others. Mostly needlepoint you ask? well we will talk about my cats Sylvester and AlleyCat, better known as "the brat". Of course I can't forget Felix who was the love of my life for over 14 years. He broke my heart as he departed for the Rainbow Bridge last year. Oh did I mention baseball?

  1. Alley Cat may love her cat sitter, but she’s loves you more, Vicky. As evidenced by all those attempts to pack herself!
