A New Finish in the Fab Firs!

From this organized chaos of threads, beads, needles, books and even more threads, the  next one in the Fab Firs is finished and emerges from the pile!

I think that this one is my favorite so far! Featruring a selection of silks, beads and Swarovski crystals. This is called Norfolk Island Pine according to the Deeva. I was thrilled because the ideas and threads that were selected worked the first time! No reverse stitching, no going back to the drawing board, no four letter words spoken…just pure bliss in stitching this. I was lost into my stitching, that I took one background stitch a little too far out into the borders. By the time I realized it, I was too far along and I know that the finishing will cover it all up.

I hope that everybody had a great Easter or Passover weekend. All the kids, big or small found all of the eggs and candies left by the Easter Bunny, all of the baking was successful and the Passover celebrations were wonderful. I started out my day watering my plants and bringing all of the orchids into the kitchen where I could give each one a little extra TLC. For me the day just got better and better as I didn’t move very far from the stitching position on the couch while watching allot of great baseball. I even checked in on The Masters every so often. The cats would keep me company for a few hours and then disappear and then come back. AlleyCat would then take her position on my lap to get in the way of my flying needles.

Today is another work day in the house as I really need to bury myself into my work for the July/August issue of Needlepoint Now. I am sure that I will have some supervision as at some point in the day, you know who will be right in the middle of things. Command S or save is one of my best friends as AlleyCat has to walk over the keyboard. There is plenty of room to walk in front or walk behind, but No…she must walk across the keyboard!

She was a little bored with all my stitching yesterday. and until next time…keep on stitching

About Vicky

Needlepoint, morning noon and evening! what could be better than this? I work on the computer in the daylight hours editing stitch guides and drawing stitches that you will see in the next Needlepoint Now for your stitching pleasure! In between this, there is time for taking pictures of my stitching adventures, Facebook and writing stitch guides for canvas that I am stitching for Needle Deeva, Maggie, Ruth Schmuff and others. Mostly needlepoint you ask? well we will talk about my cats Sylvester and AlleyCat, better known as "the brat". Of course I can't forget Felix who was the love of my life for over 14 years. He broke my heart as he departed for the Rainbow Bridge last year. Oh did I mention baseball?

  1. Love all the small scale textures you have used here, and I love that you keep showing the photo of the pile of threads and canvases you are working from, the colors are just fantastic!

  2. Hi Vicky, I love the Norfolk Pine Tree ornament that you have here on your blog. When will stitch guides and canvases be available and where is a suggestion for a shop that I could order it from?
    Thanks, Jane

    • Thanks Jane! They should be available in the next few months. As shops sign up for this new retailers club, their name will be listed on the NeedleDeeva website. You can just do one! or all of ’em!

      • Thanks Vicky…I will look for the Needle Deeva website (haven’t ever seen that one) and check it regularly to see when these ornaments are available. The tree you did is fabulous and I am sure I’ll have to do more than one of these once they become available!
