Emerges the next Fab Fir! and this one is called “Blue Fir.” I auditioned many different threads and stitches, beads and crystals and I tried everything under the sun to make it fun, enjoyable and a little challenging to stitch! I have not been stitching them in order, just picking up the next one as the mood strikes me.
I was thrilled with the final result! I hope you will be too. When I pick “stitches” I take into consideration the compensation stitches and how those will look. For instance this tree narrows down to a single thread in more than one spot, so I knew that a vertical stitch would not work…well in my eyes it wouldn’t. I have been trying not to duplicate stitches in the trees and the backgrounds, which in small areas gets very challenging. Some of them, the stars have not been beaded, but rather done in French Knots.
So how many is this finished now that I have shown you? Three? Well I better get my myself in gear as we want to have these finished and back from the finishers in time for their debut at the Summer TNNA Market in Columbus.
The Fab Firs from NeedleDeeva will be available at your favorite needlepoint shop in late August or early September. Just give them a call and order yours now!
I had a wonderful day today as I enjoyed a nice ride, well 2 hours worth each way with no traffic to Aristea in Santa Monica. Wendy and I visited and talked threads and stitches while Laura Taylor was teaching her class of the Melissa Shirley SeaSide Compotier. What a beautifully stitched piece and what a great teacher Laura is! So many great techniques in this piece and if I only had the time. The pictures don’t do this justice and if you just have to have this…just give Aristea a call 1-310-476-6977 and I am sure that they will be happy to get one on it’s way to you!
Sylvester is giving me this pitiful look as to “okay Mom, when are you going to sit on the couch with me and stitch?” and until next time…keep on stitching
Look at Sylvester. Can he teach a kitten how to behave?
Do you have a kitten that I don’t know about? or are you talking about Midnight?
The one and only. Now that he is healthy he has so much energy. Funny thing is that his behavior follows postings either here or at Facebook, it’s like he reads them, lol. That picture you posted (the cat that shows up when you need to do something)? He loves that one. Yesterday I was in the middle of a “counting situation” and jis majesty decided he had to park between me the canvas and the chart. You probably know the “kitty eyes”, don’t you? “Don’t be mad, I just want you to know I love you” type of statement? I put him on my side – does he want to stay there? of course not. He wants to stay between me and the canvas, his face right up to mine – his comfort zone. Could not live without it though. What’s interesting, once I finally find a way to have us both satisfied so that he can rest and I can stitch, what does he do? He leaves. Actually, he bolts out. That’s why I admire Syslvester’s peaceful position
AlleyCat makes up for him, trust me! Midnight sounds like a special kitty…
The game is over if you’re both comfortable.
I particularly like this tree. It’s a real challenge to do something fun with small pieces but I think you did a great job on it.
Thanks for the lovely compote photograph. How lucky you are to have such great stitchers and shops reasonably close to you!
Thanks Jane! yes I am very lucky to be living close to so many great shops!
Love the stitches and colors on the Firs. Great stitch selection.
I almost signed up for the class at Aristeia and then looked at all I have and decided another project I didn’t need. Have so many in the works right now.
BTW, I ordered one of those beading holders and can’t wait for it to get here. Im starting the Day of the Dead Skeleton and doing it with Sherry Bray and a few at Queen Annes…will be doing alot of beading.
Thanks for the tip
Thanks Sue! and happy beading! I love that Day of the Dead piece…if I only had the time!
