Did You Get Your Classes?

For those of us going to the American Needlepoint Guild Seminar in Philadelphia this year, this was a week of disappointments and a week of highs. Registrations were sent in weeks ago and the wait began to see if you got your classes. The letters arrived this week and I was fortunate enough to get my first choice, which is the 5 day canvas enhancement class with the Fab Four…you know Suzanne Howren, Tony Minieri, Beth Robertson and Meredith Willett. I was thrilled but yet heartbroken when I learn that some people didn’t get anything on their wish list. Did you get your classes?

Okay now for the big decision. Do I want to do this canvas? The gourmet collage by Lani?

or do I want to dig my Tapestry Tent stocking out of the deepest recesses of the closet and finish that? It is the Santa that is holding the Noah’s Ark and has all the natvity figurines as ornaments in the tree. I have a fair amount of it done, but there are areas that have puzzled me and still remain unfinished. Decisions! decisions!

While I am in Philly, I have selected the Pennsylvania Dutch Country tour where I will get to discover the Amish country and a lunch stop for a feast of Pennsylvania Dutch foods including shoo-fly pie. I am sure that there will be some retail therapy along the way too!

Of course I will go a Phillies game and explore the city. I have never been there, so I want to see Liberty Bell, Independence Hall and all that stuff, you know play typical tourist. And a real Philly cheese steak too! There will be all the needlepoint shops to visit, such as Rittenhouse, Fireside and Stitch Haus.

I need to get my Deco Kitty framed for my entry into this year’s exhibit. I will take care of that on Saturday.

All of my work for Needlepoint Now is ready and done! I just need to send the files over to Elizabeth later today. I may have one more project yet though if she was able to get the stitch guide over the weekend. Now I can turn my attention to the stitch guides for the Fab Fir’s.

AlleyCat was working hard supervising me! and until next time…keep on stitching

About Vicky

Needlepoint, morning noon and evening! what could be better than this? I work on the computer in the daylight hours editing stitch guides and drawing stitches that you will see in the next Needlepoint Now for your stitching pleasure! In between this, there is time for taking pictures of my stitching adventures, Facebook and writing stitch guides for canvas that I am stitching for Needle Deeva, Maggie, Ruth Schmuff and others. Mostly needlepoint you ask? well we will talk about my cats Sylvester and AlleyCat, better known as "the brat". Of course I can't forget Felix who was the love of my life for over 14 years. He broke my heart as he departed for the Rainbow Bridge last year. Oh did I mention baseball?

  1. I hope we’ll hear good things about Deco Kitty after seminar!

Add The Nimble Needle in Haddonfield, NJ, to your list of shops to visit. It’s a short drive from Philly. Karen has a delightful shop, and she is so welcoming!

      • I understand that. When we go up to visit my in-laws, I’m at the mercy of my husband or his sister (who usually tries to visit at the same time) because they know their way around. So luckily for me, Tanner Street is someplace they know how to find. 🙂

  2. I would definitely let the Fab Four have a go at your Lani canvas. There are so many possibilities. I think a “therapy canvas” appointment will help you get over the hump with the stocking. I just love your kitties!!! AlleyCat is a hoot and Sylvester is a lovey mamma’s boy!

  3. Please Vicki, take the Noah’s Ark stocking. It’s the one I need to make for myself by this Christmas and I’m eager for ideas. I took the Laurel Burch mare and foal canvas (I got from you) to Callaway and got great ideas from Carole and Michael in class and from Tony who kept wandering through! Looking forward to seeing my Starbucks wifi breakfast friend in Phili. Hope
