Cat’s Night Out!

This was a few months ago…when I dug this canvas out of the deepest recesses of the stitching closet to be worked into my current stitching rotation. Canvas is by Sharon G.

This is where I am now! Getting close to being finished. My goal is to have this finished by the time that New Creations, the best framers around call me to pick up Deco Kitty. I can pick that up and leave this one there. I do need to do a preliminary stitch guide first!

Okay I can hear you now saying “it’s been a few months, now…is that all you have done?” Well yes that is it, but this has been stitched around the Fab Firs for NeedleDeeva, the star for Raymond and my newest NeedleDeeva project that has 12, yes I said TWELVE canvases in the set. So I think that it is pretty good!

If you look at the first picture, you will see 5 cats, which to me that is very meaningful. The  2 that are front and center that have been beaded represent AlleyCat and Sylvester.  At the moment they allow me to share their home with them…well they do need someone to feed them, love them and amuse them?

The other 3 cats in the lower right are my 3 cats that have shared my life, but wait for me at the Rainbow Bridge. The black one is Felix as he was all black, the brown one is Sneezy which was a brown tabby/Abyssinian mix and really did sneeze allot! and the gray one is Peanut a gray tabby, as when I rescued her and brought her home was really just a little peanut!

I just couldn’t stitch those 3 in any fancy decorative stitches, so they are just done with 1 strand silk. Very light to sort of give the illusion that they are far off in the distance. I beaded the eyes and the noses as really there was nothing else that worked or I was pleased with. I tried a little Krienik, but then you could see the thread drag behind the other stitching.

Well it is Saturday morning and I will be off for breakfast at The Cottage soon. I need a few threads and some stretcher bars, so I guess that a little retail therapy is in order. Right after I come back from Columbus, I have a class with Terry Dryden and I need stretcher bars for that. Do you think that I have 2 pairs of 13″ bars in my stash? NO! I have several 12’s and lots of 14’s, but not the lucky 13’s.

AlleyCat was making sure that I didn’t lose my spot in Brenda Hart’s book #1 as I was stitching on my Cat’s Night Out! and until next time…keep on stitching

About Vicky

Needlepoint, morning noon and evening! what could be better than this? I work on the computer in the daylight hours editing stitch guides and drawing stitches that you will see in the next Needlepoint Now for your stitching pleasure! In between this, there is time for taking pictures of my stitching adventures, Facebook and writing stitch guides for canvas that I am stitching for Needle Deeva, Maggie, Ruth Schmuff and others. Mostly needlepoint you ask? well we will talk about my cats Sylvester and AlleyCat, better known as "the brat". Of course I can't forget Felix who was the love of my life for over 14 years. He broke my heart as he departed for the Rainbow Bridge last year. Oh did I mention baseball?
