This little birdie told me that spring hasn’t really shown up yet! Yoo~hoo, where are you? Record cold temperatures in New York, Detroit and so many more cities. Even cold for America’s finest city! yes I admit it, I am spoiled.
Snow and I mean crazy snow in the Midwest, the Dakotas and especially in Denver. I called a friend today who lives in Denver and told her “that it’s a miracle that it didn’t snow there today!” we got a good laugh out of that. A few baseball games have been postponed and even rescheduled because of that snow.
So this little birdie told me that she would love to welcome in spring, but in the meantime… good things come to those who wait.
I shot several dozen pictures of the Needle Deeva Pumpkin Bird yesterday. I need a really good picture for the cover of the stitch guide for the classes at Destination Dallas. This time the colors show up much better. I must admit that it was a little challenge keeping the kids away from the feathers!
After the Pumpkin Bird came back from the finishers, it motivated me to stitch a few more of ’em! so I’ve been working on this one and another one with the sunflower wing. The skull was beaded of course and since it was painted with color in the cheeks…I needed to come up with a brilliant idea. I felt that if I beaded right over it with the white beads that you would see the color in between the beads. So why not embrace the challenge and come up with something fun? I created a Glow in the Dark bead for his cheeks! And they really do glow in the dark. I just need to do the underside of the belly and add the feathers, but maybe I will look for some gold/yellow feathers today.
So if you are attending the Destination Dallas market and would like a class that is no charge to the shops, step right up as we have a few openings left! Thank you to the generosity of Needle Deeva for the donation of the canvas, Rainbow Gallery, Kreinik and Sundance Beads for the threads and beads. Thank you too to Fleur de Paris who donates the stretcher bars. Just show up for class with your scissors and whatever else you might need and stitch away!
Several times this past week Sylvester and I have been up for hours, had breakfast, our morning play and pet sessions… while AlleyCat is no where to be seen. I know that she has rediscovered an old haunt and has been hanging out on top of this box. She is just sleeping in as I scratch the box and get an obligatory “meow” and back to sleep she goes…
or sometimes she sleeps here. Or Sylvester sleeps in this smaller box too. So I have my upstairs/downstairs cats. But trust me he never misses breakfast! and until next time…keep on stitching
