Did you have a great Mother’s Day? I do realize that for some as with any holiday, it is a tough, tough day… and my heart goes out to you.
But for me who no longer is working in the hospitality industry it was a great day as I didn’t have to go out of the house to work. I still worked in my own way since I put in a marathon day of stitching, sorta kinda like what I did when it was in my corporate life. I am trying to finish up a piece for the magazine that will be in the September/October issue of Needlepoint Now.
Felix would always sleep on my lap while I was stitching and now AlleyCay does. She doesn’t bother my threads or my moving hand, but just hope that I don’t have to get up or I hear from her!
I am about 90% finished with the stitching, and I need to tweak one more color of thread yet, a funky purple, one that has reddish hints to it rather then blue. And I hope that I can find my invisible beading thread, otherwise I can see me buying another spool! Do I want to go for the thread today? or it can wait till tomorrow or Wednesday when I will be in my LNS anyway. I really need to work on the stitch guide for this piece today, as I like to do it when it is fresher in my mind and the piece is in front of me.
My kids bought me a new orchid for Mothers Day! I have been trying to rebuild my collection, since I lost some to a fungus amoungus. This was from Costco and really quite the deal for what was in the planting. I just changed the pot and very pleased with it! I might go back today (since Costco is less that a mile from my house) to see if there are any left.
and until next time…keep on stitching
At the encouragement of a dear stitching friend, I have been following your blog for quite some time and have never been let down. I have gleaned great stitching information and wonderful stitches. One of the things I like most about the pictures are the Orchids. I have a limited space for my orchids and they are happier then they have been in years thanks to a recent move. Keep up the great postings ! ! !
Thank you so much…you are too sweet! It really broke my heart to send my orchids to orchid heaven… but the fun now is in collecting them again!
Crossing fingers…so far my orchids, all gifts, are thriving. One poor thing has only one leaf left, but two spikes of buds. Hoping another leaf comes up soon. You have your orchids and other house plants on the counter. You’re fortunate the kids don’t bother them much. I can only have house plants on my wide kitchen ledge and orchids on my bathroom ledge, so Sienna can’t get to them. She loves to nibble.
yes they really don’t bother the orchids!
I’ve sent many an orchid to heaven, I do much better with my violets. If you love orchids have you been up to the place in Santa Barbara? Took my sister there last year when she came out and I was absolutely floored by all of the different plants they have and the smell was out of this world.
Love you kitties too, miss my Abby who would just sit on my lap while I stitched. Ms. Kitty doesn’t sit well, and she is not beyond ‘borrowing’ a skien or two of silk when the mood strikes her.
Sandy
I haven’t been to that place in Santa Barbara for years…but we have a few here in San Diego and one of these days I will get there! These cats don’t “borrow” my threads at all!
