A Tough Job…

but I had to do it! I know that I should have really stayed in and stitched and stitched or worked on stitch guides or the next, next issue of Needlepoint Now, but I didn’t. My excuse was that I had to go out anyway. I needed to go to UPS to ship a package and since that is 1/2 way from my house to La Jolla, and since my car is sort of on automatic pilot when it comes to La Jolla, I couldn’t help myself.

So off to La Jolla I was for the Grub Sprawl. Hit the streets for the best eats from 10 different locations. Now let me say that La Jolla has some of the very best restaurants and I could not afford to live there between the calories that I would consume and also the cash!

I started out at Jose’s Courtroom with a Trio of Street Tacos accompanied by a craft beer called Victoria. A balmy evening as I sat at the bar enjoying the baseball game with one skance look and beautiful ocean views with the other look. Delightful way to start the evening out. My next stop was Prospect bar & Grill for Taylor Farm Smoked Gouda Mac and it was wonderful! No adult beverages at this location though.

My next stop of choice was Karl Strauss Brewing Company for House-made Spicy Hummus and flat bread served with Tower 10 IPA taster. Absolutely delicious! Now I want to make absolutely sure that I mention that I was selecting the restaurants that had a tv or 2 in their establishment so that I could keep up on the baseball scores. I knew that Texas had won again and that Milwaukee was really getting beat!

It was time to move on and really deep down inside I had originally set my sights on stopping at about 1/2 of the places that were part of the Grub Sprawl. I was really enjoying myself and I am thinking that with a group of people and really taking lots of time between each stop that at the very least 5 stops would be very doable! But I was getting full and it was tough turning down the overstuffed ravioli at the Cottage…and was especially hard passing up the last stop that I had planned which was Chocolate French Toast Sandwich with Maple Bourbon Bacon Ice Cream at Finch’s Wine Bar & Bistro. This is a new restaurant that has recently opened in La Jolla and I think that I might just make a trip back there just for that dessert.

Home I came to the kids as we settled in for a few hours of stitching. I was working on Mr Crow as I stitched on the leaves and vines all in basketweave with Vineyard Silk Biscotti. See I got my dessert after all! Sylvester was keeping my spot warm while I got up for an iced tea refill.

AlleyCat was working very hard supervising as I fined tuned the stitch guides for Deco Kitty. I sure hope we found all the errors as we hope to be just about “purrfect” and until next time…keep on stitching

About Vicky

Needlepoint, morning noon and evening! what could be better than this? I work on the computer in the daylight hours editing stitch guides and drawing stitches that you will see in the next Needlepoint Now for your stitching pleasure! In between this, there is time for taking pictures of my stitching adventures, Facebook and writing stitch guides for canvas that I am stitching for Needle Deeva, Maggie, Ruth Schmuff and others. Mostly needlepoint you ask? well we will talk about my cats Sylvester and AlleyCat, better known as "the brat". Of course I can't forget Felix who was the love of my life for over 14 years. He broke my heart as he departed for the Rainbow Bridge last year. Oh did I mention baseball?

  1. Okay – I have already eaten breakfast (sliced apples with cottage cheese and cinnamon), settle in for a moment with you – and find that there were places we missed eating in those 3 years – bacon ice cream? Could that really be good – you sure made it sound good! What a day Vicky – and you were all alone? I coulda come out….those street tacos really sounded yummy – and we coulda walked a few miles to take off the beer! I don’t even like beer…but maybe somebody makes some palatable look alike! Hope you had a great time – love the photo!
