The kids and I stitched the day away yesterday. They slept on my lap, at my side, in their box of the week and on the paper bag from the other day. Then from there they moved to be in the sun and later on to the couch next to me as I slaved away under the hot light with needle and thread in my hand. The cat is stitched already as I usually like to start with something easy and then I can think about the other areas. I used one strand Burmilana mixed with one strand Wisper…interlocking Gobelin wouldn’t work because of the curl in the tail. I might brush her later, I might not depending on how the mood strikes me. My fingers were getting sore, so I traded in for a bigger needle to open the canvas holes up a little more to allow the thread to slide through easier. Much better! Being that I normally stitch with very light coverage, a 24 or 26 is normally my needle of choice.
My afternoon break from stitching was selecting threads and beads that I thought I liked. I since found out later that the orange beads that I have aren’t giving me the effect that I wanted, so Ruth is sending me some other Sundance Beads. I selected several purples in all types of threads, beads and Kreinik…now to find those “purrfect stitches.” A Belle Soie Attic Tea is just the green I was looking for and now I need to find threads for the sky, moon and the flying witch. A thread shopping trip may be on the agenda for Tuesday.
I cannot stitch the entire day today as I need a to step away from the canvas for awhile! My house really needs some attention as it has been sorely neglected since I have been back from San Antonio. Most of my time has just been working like a crazy woman to make some deadlines, most of which have been met. Plants and orchids need to be watered and tended too. I picked up a few new succulents Sunday morning. The one on the lower right is called “Kitten Ears”, how could I resist?
Way too much stitching…not enough time! Wish I could put AlleyCat to work, what do you think? I will have to wake her up from her nap first. and until next time…keep on stitching
Looks like great threads, Vicky. Anticipating the beaded pumpkin… The cat is already stitched. I think that one week estimate that I saw someone post is not far off. Can’t wait to see more.
well if I didn’t have other things to stitch, yes I could finish it by next Sunday…wishful thinking!
I see beads!!!! This is going to be awesome. Alley Cat will be so proud – she probably thinks she’s looking at the mirror and her thoughts could be “don’t I look great in that hat?”
yes beads! I think that you have become AlleyCat’s best friend!
Hi Vicky! Love your work and would be more than happy to send a bunch of SJ Designs beads (oranges or other colors) for you to try.
thank you for your generousity! I will send my address in an e-mail. Thanks again and how exciting!
