Today is Friday the 13th, just in case you didn’t know! For some reason, it is supposed to be an unlucky day, maybe because it is Friday and maybe because it is the 13th day of the month. I think lots of people must be superstitious as many hotels do not have a 13th floor numbered and many athletes don’t wear that lucky or unlucky number as the case may be.
I guess that I would not consider myself a believer in superstitions. After all I have had more than one black cat in my life. Do you know that black cats are the most difficult to be adopted at the shelters? If they are not lucky enough to find their furever home, well they are just not lucky enough. The shelters will not allow adoptions of black cats around Halloween. For me I just happened to have been lucky enough to have more than one black cat adopt me!
Then on top of that, I have been known to stitch a black cat canvas or two! The canvas that starts off the blog today is the newest addtion to my ever growing stash of cat canvases. This one is by Sharon G and was inspired by the photography of Suzy Mast Lee. Sharon named the canvas after me, but I don’t think he looks like a Vicky?! I am honored and flattered to have a canvas named after me, but in my heart I will think of him as Felix.
Speaking of Sharon G, this is another one of her canvases that I started ooh so long ago! I have been so busy stitching for everybody else, that I haven’t had time for me. I have brought this canvas out of the deepest recesses of the needlepoint closet and I am going to start working on it again…and very soon! I know that I have borrowed threads and beads from what I had originally selected and am sure that I didn’t put them back. I sure hope that I can remember all the ideas that I had…well if not it is time to start all over again!
I have been stitching almost every night on the Fab Firs by NeedleDeeva and I should have another one to show you very soon! I want to try some Swarovski Crystals on this next one, so I have 2 colors at hand and my green beading thread. I have been spending way too much time on the computer lately between the magazine and my stitch guides. After I finish a tree, it is time to write! and sometimes it can take just as many hours to do the guide as it does to stitch ’em!
We are expecting a day of rain today, so maybe it is a great reason to do some much needed things around the house…or maybe I will stitch all day? AlleyCat was watching allot of kitty tv yesterday as the birds were driving her crazy! I brought in from the balcony my 2 spring or Easter cactus as I am hoping that all of these buds will open! Don’t these buds realize that Easter was last week and they are late opening?
In case you didn’t know there is a Christmas Cactus and Easter Cactus. My sister told me that on her last visit and I originally thought…and have since learned she is right! The leaves are different from the Christmas Cactus and these are full of buds just waiting to bloom, while the other one is not. and until next time…keep on stitching
Oh, I must have that Sharon G. canvas! Looks like my current kitty Augie and like our sweet boy Studebaker who passed several years ago. I think black kitties are wonderful! But somehoe they manage to shed some not-quite-black hair on my black clothes as well as black hair on everything else. Enjoy your weekend of stitching and baseball watching!
It is amazing how much non black cat hair that have! I am sure that you FNS would be happy to order this for you!
Hi Vicky:
What a great canvas! How thrilling to have one named after you! I so enjoy your blog and the updates on AlleycCat and Sylvester. I can’t wait to see more trees. As I write this, Elsie is walking all over the computer…Wanda
Thank you Wanda! Good kitty that Elsie! the only path AlleyCat knows across my desk is to walk on the keyboard
As a Rockies fan, it seems neither one of us should get too excited about the season BUT Hope Springs Eternal.
A really good baseball book, hot off the press is IMPERFECT – AN IMPROBABLE LIFE. It is the autobiography of Jim Abbott (one handed pitcher) I am almost finished and loving it!
SuZy
PS Hats off to Sharon – wonderful canvas!
Thanks SuZy! yes but in Padres world, it seems that the hope may have already sprung…no owner, no tv and off to such a slow start. I will check out that book, thanks for the tip! See you in Columbus?!
