Allot of days it is like Christmas around here as a package or a parcel or two show up. I have the greatest mail lady and the other day she knocked on my door and handed me a package. I think that her curiosity finally got the best of her as she asked “just why do you get so many packages? and what is this mostlyneedlepoint.com all about?” So I asked her in and showed my stitching stuff along with the mess in the stitching area with threads all over the place! Thank God these 2 feline children of mine leave the threads alone. Of course they need to inspect them from time to time, but they do leave them be.
Okay back to the package…it was a very generous gift from Sharon Crescent, you know the Crescent in Crescent Colours? Belle Soie Hand Dyed Silk Floss was in the package. Ooh what a delight for the eyes seeing all these threads in so many amazing colors. Carrot Cake is a vibrant orange and first it is makes me think of having a piece of carrot cake with cream cheese first and foremost…and then I think that it would a purr~fect Halloween orange.
Where do you come up with some of these names?
Blue Heaven, Bahama Breeze, Biscotti, Attic Tea, Miss Green Jeans just to name a few. Belle Soie is a 12 strand spun silk and I love, love, love…did I say love? stitching with it. One of my go to threads when I am looking for an overdye. I did try to use them in the Fab Firs, as 3- Alarm Fire was a perfect red, but the areas were just not large enough to showcase the color variations.
Spring Violets and Walk the Plank was used in the stitching of Deco Kitty, so see I really do love this thread! I didn’t use Spring Violets in Cat’s Night Out as I wanted the skies in these 2 pieces to be different from each other.
Did you notice this color Apricot? well I must have had apricot on my mind when I just happened to be browsing through some orchids as I am telling myself you don’t need another orchid…what are you thinking?
Now not that I am orchid expert by any means, but I have never seen an orchid in this colorway. I liken the orchid shopping to when you are looking at new canvases? just gotta have it!
Well it is time for me to head down to La Jolla for my weekly visit of breakfast at The Cottage and then a little retail therapy. Back home for some stitching and a little baseball. Another great game last night as the Seattle Mariners pitched a combined no hitter with 6 pitchers. What a game! what’s on your agenda for the weekend? for AlleyCat it is her kitty tv, only after she gets up from her early morning my tummy is full and I had my bath nap! and until next time…keep on stitching
What a charmed life you lead, Vicky! Gift boxes of stitching goodies! You must have been very, very good in your previous lives. 🙂
LOL!
I was at our local Lowe’s earlier and they had royal blue orchids. I’m assuming that they were dyed that way, but I could be wrong.
I have never seen a royal blue one and I think that you are right!
Wow, those threads are delicious looking! Wish I had a local place to buy them and look through them but I’ll have to track down an online source. Loved the trees from yesterday too and the way they are finished really shows them off well. And AlleyCat looks like she is surveying her domain much like my Augie boy does. He has the ability to look at at the upper trees from the sunroom or get ‘outside’ on the screened porch. He loves his nature and “tv”.
I too wish you had a LNS to enjoy the threads. Give your Augue a scratch for me…
You are right on target. Belle Soie is the so nice to stitch with and the colors are fantastic. Know you had a great breakfast at The Cottage. Have a fun weekend stitching and watching baseball.
Thanks Sue! Hope to see you one of these days…
