It Seems it Never Rains in Southern California!

well it does! even in the middle of the summer which it really never ever does. I woke up yesterday morning to the wonderful smells of fresh rain falling, the scents from the trees and lawns and all this racket. The noise was mixed between claps of thunder and Sylvester & AlleyCat running as fast as their little paws could carry them to their favorite hiding places. Too funny those kids!

Saturday, my last day in San Antonio was spent soaking in more of the sights and sounds of the city. Sharing the streets with the Alamo is The Menger Hotel, built in 1859 at the sight of the first Texas Brewery. It transported me back in time to the time of frontier history and legends. It is said that Teddy Roosevelt recruited the Rough Riders right here!

Horse drawn carriages awaited you for to embark upon a ride. I really would have loved to have taken one myself, but I thought that I would just enjoy walking around instead. The Crockett Hotel is in the background…you know Davy Crockett

In the plaza in front of the Alamo there was a celebration going on, with dancers, music and some local food treats! Ah breakfast and I was thrilled to soak it all in…

Continuing around the Alamo, there were reenactors dressed in period costumes demonstrating the workings of  the firearms and speaking about what life was really like then. I toured the out buildings and the grounds before heading back to the hotel and on to the airport.

Always a little sad to leave, but then on the other hand there is no place like home. The feline children would be waiting for me and it is never the same sleeping without them. My flight was uneventful and as soon as my feet touched ground I headed right home to see the kids. As expected AlleyCat meowed at me incessantly voicing her displeasure of leaving her yet again!

I stayed home all weekend with the kids, sticthing away on Deco Kitty. I was able to “purrfect” a few of the threads during my visit to The Needle Works in Austin and am making great progress. I am enjoying every single stitch on this canvas!

AlleyCat turned to yet another channel on the kitty tv. She never seems to amaze me as she was totally intrigued by the noises made by a woodpecker.

Mostly needlepoint you ask? well we will talk about my cats Sylvester and AlleyCat, better known as "the brat". Of course I can't forget Felix who was the love of my life for over 14 years.
