The itsy bitsy spider climbed up Witchy-Poo’s tail! and I was so preoccupied with that little spider, that I guess that I must not have been paying any attention at all whatsoever to the way that I was standing…a great picture, but not at at all straight. I do apologize! By the time that I realized the picture was not what it should be, Witchy-Poo was already on her way east.
Well Witchy-Poo is finished and I am always thrilled when I can say that special word…finished! She has already made her way to Bedecked and Beadazzled, that magical needlepoint place with the green walls and is in Ruth’s hands as we speak. I really wanted to add a special something to these cats and if I may quote Ada, “totally unexpected!” The spider was already in the stash as I had bought it for the Halloween Hearts, but even though this was considered a small spider, it was way too big for those hearts. I knew that as soon as I saw this canvas, that I was going to use it on her, somewhere, someplace, somehow.
My Sunday morning started early with a destination of either grocery shopping first as there was nothing to eat for me or going out for breakfast and then grocery shopping later. First, let me make it “purrfectly” clear that there is always plenty of cat food, cat treats and litter in the house…there may be nothing for me, but the kids are always well taken care of.
The car just seems to know its way to La Jolla, about a 20 minute drive without traffic to my favorite breakfast spot, The Cottage. Rumor had it that my breakfast of choice, Carne Asada Eggs Benedict with Chipotle Hollandaise & Avocados was the early morning breakfast special. Just had to go! It was so delicious as always. I decided to walk around abit after breakfast, even though my favorite shops wouldn’t be open quite this early. It was so peacefully quiet without the weekday hustle and bustle of traffic and shoppers and it was sheer bliss. Cool ocean air breezes brought the wonderful scents of the salty air around you, which normally isn’t that noticeable in the Village over the smells of the cars. It was a welcome surprise!
Time to take care of business and head home. Groceries and the Sunday paper was bagged and I was ready to leave. Lots to do at the house and of course the cats would be waiting for me. I spent the day stitching and watching tv. I am working on a rather large project, Melissa Shirley’s Mr. Crow and that is what I stitched on for the day. It will be a model for a shop and they have given me the stitches and the threads and I am just plugging away. Mr. Crow is covered with lots of vines and leaves which I am working on that part now. I should be farther along on it then I am, so I am really trying to make up for lost time.
Sylvester was keeping his eye on me and AlleyCat was making herself scarce for awhile. Eventually she graced us with her presence and slept on my lap while I was stitching. and until next time…keep on stitching
Love the blue background, especially in combination with the green grass stitch. Great touches, Vicky!
thanks so much Jane!
Vicky – this is simply wonderful! I love the background – and the green – you do such magic with that needle of yours!
Deeva
Thank you Deeva!
This looks super, Vicky. Such a glamorous kitty. I, too, love the spider suspended from her delicately curved tail. Background stitches are fantastic. Can’t wait to see what magic you create next!
Thanks Missy!
Love love love the stitches…..
thank you! thank you! thank you!
That cat has personality, she’s so charming (the other one too; you know who). Lovew the stitches Vicky and the colors and I can;’t wait to see what you do to the Santa one….. and the ones Ada will graciously come up with in the near future. No pressure.
Thanks Palma…and yes no pressure! LOL!
So here’s where the wheat is separated from the chaff. I would have felt compelled to compensate that grass design and stitch right to the edge. Ditto on the sky. And then the sky would have been completely ruined. Thank goodness there are stitching goddesses to show me the error of my ways. Beautifully done, Vicky.
Thanks K.B. I tried the grass stitch all the way to the edge, but I liked it this way better. The sky really needed that and I only thought of it after an inspiration from Ada!
Can’t wait for the stitch guide to be available through my LNS..they have Witchy Poo and Santa Baby in stock! Excellent work, Vicky!
Thank you Sandy! soon! soon! soon!
Absolutely fabulous! I echo what everyone else said – the random open stitching on the sky really captures the look of a night sky. The grass that is not stitched to the edge (something that never would have occurred to me) brings your attention to the center. The borders really enhance the canvas, and I love the black ribbon on Witchy Poo’s tail. I am learning so much from *watching* you stitch,
oh my gosh Judy, thank you so much!
