Did you know that Wednesday, June 19th is National Martini Day? well of course this drink would need it’s own special day! I think that I need this Keep Calm Canvas by Unique New Zealand. According to Punchbowl.com…
“although the exact origin of the martini is unknown, this iconic drink has earned a permanent place in the pantheon of classic cocktails. The first printed recipe for a “Martinez” cocktail appeared in a bar-tending manual published in San Francisco in 1887. However, historians disagree whether the beverage actually originated on the West Coast or not. In 1911, a New York City bartender named Martini di Arma di Taggis began serving a cocktail made with gin, vermouth, orange bitters and an olive garnish. The martini gained widespread popularity among Manhattan socialites and has been associated with New York ever since!”
That was then and now…wow there are so many types of Martini’s! Lemon Drops, Appletini’s, so many more in all colors, sizes and flavors made with so many of these specialty Vodka’s that are available now…
Speaking of Martini’s there is an absolutely wonderful restaurant named Martini’s that is right across the street from the convention center in Columbus. I will be headed there shortly after I arrive! They make a mean Martini that I love and they garnish it with blue cheese stuffed olives.
This is the new thread from Kreinik called Easter Grass…
a clear oppalescent thread with chameleon qualities that I will select one to stitch the glass with! Look at all the sizes it comes in…1/8″ and 1/16″ Ribbon, #4, #8, #12 and #16 Braid and last by not least Blending Filament.
Of course you need the right magnet when you are stitching on this martini canvas!
AlleyCat is again working on her suntan! and until next time…keep on stitching
I have the martini canvas and need to do it for my DH. He is a martini purist–Sapphire gin, a couple olives and straight up. Me on the other hand just had two new ones–a cucumber martini and a salted watermelon martini. Both were yummy! I love the photo of Alley Cat working on her tan! Isn’t amazing how they can find the patch of sun no matter how small it is and manage to fit themselves into it?
I swear she follows the sun around the house and where ever the sun is…I can find AlleyCat!
