Olympic Stitching!

I wonder if they give out medals for how much you get stitched during the Olympics? How about you? have you been getting allot of stitching done the last few weeks? I have been giving up watching a baseball game or 2 and opting for the Olympics instead. I will be sorry to see it end on Sunday. It will thrilling to see the runner from Kenya, who was absolutely charming by the way…win the gold for his country and his Masai tribe. How about the young lady who was the first female competitor in any Olympics from Saudi Arabia? She was last to finish her race, but she ran that last minute to a standing ovation as everyone knew that her appearance was special indeed! See it just goes to say that it is not the finish line, but the journey is what it’s all about.

I feel the same about my needlepoint that it is not always about the finish, but rather the journey. Well the stuff that I need to stitch needs to be finished, but the stuff for me is a different story. That is why every once in awhile I sneak in my own thing or take a class or 2 or 3 or…well you get the idea.

I am on the home stretch for the backdrop, one of the pieces in the Thanksgiving group by NeedleDeeva coming soon to a shop near or maybe far from you. I really have been enjoying working on this one. The stitches and ideas have all worked, well so far anyway and I am getting close to the home stretch. I have been stitching the sand and finishing up the greenery the last few nights and then all I will have left to do is the ship and the rest of the sky stitch around the sails.

I have an idea for the sails of the ship…hoping that it’s going to come out how I have it envisioned in my mind. Not sure if it will. I purchased the River Silk in the 4 colors that I need to create the sail…but do I need 7mm or 13mm? As I study the picture I am thinking that the whites are rather flags than sails, so I might need to think of something different for that. Hmmm…would it have been made from silks? or is that where the word sailcloth came from? Oh well that will be the very last thing that I stitch on this piece.

I have been keeping very busy stitching and working and working and stitching as I have just about 2 weeks before I leave for the ANG Seminar in Philadelphia. I have set deadlines for myself, important and necessary to me for my sanity and stress levels. I will not accept anything less from myself!

I did take a break from the computer yesterday to water my plants and orchids as summer has finally arrived. They really needed that drink of water. Now laundry and other household chores are calling my name…but wait! The Southern California Electric Company has called a Flex Alert. Now what is that you ask? They ask you to conserve as much energy as possible by not using appliances et al. So I will do my part and contribute to using less power and tell myself, there is always another day for laundry and vacuuming.

AlleyCat was walking by my bag and her curiousity got the best of her…she needed to stop and see what’s in there?

Guess who? and until next time…keep on stitching

About Vicky

Needlepoint, morning noon and evening! what could be better than this? I work on the computer in the daylight hours editing stitch guides and drawing stitches that you will see in the next Needlepoint Now for your stitching pleasure! In between this, there is time for taking pictures of my stitching adventures, Facebook and writing stitch guides for canvas that I am stitching for Needle Deeva, Maggie, Ruth Schmuff and others. Mostly needlepoint you ask? well we will talk about my cats Sylvester and AlleyCat, better known as "the brat". Of course I can't forget Felix who was the love of my life for over 14 years. He broke my heart as he departed for the Rainbow Bridge last year. Oh did I mention baseball?
