San Diego Rock & Roll Marathon!

and you are thinking, and just what does this have to do with stitching? well absolutely nothing! but sometimes there is more than just needlepoint. Today is when our city lights up with the spirit of thousands of individuals from all walks of life fighting cancer one step at a time.

Even though at times The San Diego Rock and Roll Marathon is considered just a 26.2 mile block party that runs through the heart of the city, there is allot of money raised from this event to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. This year was sold out to a record number of runners that will run a specifically designed route. A route that will take you through the most scenic parts of San Diego such as downtown and the Gaslamp Quarter, past the Convention Center and Mission Bay, through Petco Park, the home of the San Diego Padres, Balboa Park and through Mission Beach under the bluest of blue skies this morning. Freeways have been closed, some streets have been rerouted to accommodate the run and the first pitch of the baseball game today has been delayed for a few hours! Live bands and cheering stations will line the course to cheer the runners on and they will end at an elaborate post marathon concert. Traffic could be a nightmare, so I will stay close to home today.

I can’t believe that it is June already! Where has the last six month’s gone? I swear just yesterday we were welcoming the New Year and it is already June 3rd. I really need to get more stitching done as it seems that just 2-3 hours a day is not enough, not nearly enough. My newest NeedleDeeva project is starting to take over my life as I texted Robin the other day saying that I need to eat, sleep and dream NeedleDeeva Thanksgiving. Luckily I have no magazine work now so I can devote allot of my waking hours to stitching.

The kids woke me up very early and they were very persistent that breakfast was to be served now! I knew that I wasn’t going back to sleep, so I gave in and got up and opened that can of cat food. AlleyCat approved of what was on the menu today…and no I don’t open something else if she turns her nose up at it. Sylvester will come by sooner or later and clean up her dish too. Hmmm what do I want to do with myself being up so early on Sunday morning? hmm maybe I will go back to sleep! and until next time…keep on stitching

About Vicky

Needlepoint, morning noon and evening! what could be better than this? I work on the computer in the daylight hours editing stitch guides and drawing stitches that you will see in the next Needlepoint Now for your stitching pleasure! In between this, there is time for taking pictures of my stitching adventures, Facebook and writing stitch guides for canvas that I am stitching for Needle Deeva, Maggie, Ruth Schmuff and others. Mostly needlepoint you ask? well we will talk about my cats Sylvester and AlleyCat, better known as "the brat". Of course I can't forget Felix who was the love of my life for over 14 years. He broke my heart as he departed for the Rainbow Bridge last year. Oh did I mention baseball?
