Thanksgiving Countdown!

Where has this year gone to? OMG, has it just flown by, or what? I was doing a little shopping in the market yesterday and realized wow, next week is Thanksgiving…already! soon there after it will be Christmas, Chanukah, New Years and all that will be followed up by the Winter Trade show in Phoenix. New canvases, new threads and oh so much more.

Halloween decorating was quickly tucked away not to see the light of day for another year. I could have brought out the items to help get me in the Thanksgiving spirit, but I didn’t. I decided not to spend the time with that as there is way too much stitching and too much charting to do! I will probably just treat myself to a beautiful flower arrangement from Adelaide’s next week.

The markets are full of shoppers selecting their picture perfect holiday birds, ingredients for the pie baking and all of the side dishes. The cranberry sauce, the stuffing, the vegetables, sweet potatoes and mashed. What is turkey without mashed potatoes and gravy? The guest lists have been prepared, the wine list is being worked on and the linens and china have been selected for our special day of giving thanks. Notice how I am thinking of desserts first? from Giada’s Chocolate Hazelnut Torte to Tyler’s Ultimate Caramel Apple Pie! how can you decide on just one?

The cats and I will spend the day together, totally by my choice. After all the years, probably almost 40 that I worked in the restaurant industry and most of that in the kitchen preparing Thanksgiving feasts for the hungry crowds, it is such a treat for me to stay home. I start off the day with Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and I slowly begin my decorating for the holidays followed up by a little brunch. Miracle on 34th Street is next on the must watch list, a little more decorating and then I will start up my turkey day feast. I roast a boneless breast and then there are wonderfully prepared gourmet side dishes available for purchase. I ponder all day the things that I am so thankful for. A little wine and some stitching will make for an absolutely wonderful day!

AlleyCat is trying so hard to convince me that sometimes she can really sit like a lady! and until next time…keep on stitching

About Vicky

Needlepoint, morning noon and evening! what could be better than this? I work on the computer in the daylight hours editing stitch guides and drawing stitches that you will see in the next Needlepoint Now for your stitching pleasure! In between this, there is time for taking pictures of my stitching adventures, Facebook and writing stitch guides for canvas that I am stitching for Needle Deeva, Maggie, Ruth Schmuff and others. Mostly needlepoint you ask? well we will talk about my cats Sylvester and AlleyCat, better known as "the brat". Of course I can't forget Felix who was the love of my life for over 14 years. He broke my heart as he departed for the Rainbow Bridge last year. Oh did I mention baseball?
