When Pigs Fly!

Our lunch break from class took us on a meandering stroll through the Riverwalk to La Villita, an historic arts village on the south bank of the San Antonio River. Lunch was high up on the agenda and Chris, Pat, Elizabeth and I enjoyed our visit to Guadalajara Grill as we feasted on carnitas, chile rellenos, fish tacos and lots of chips and salsa. The waiters were just a delight!

Lunch was over so it was time for shopping! We worked our way through lots of quaint little shops with charming little nooks and crannies and quirky patio displays into copper shops, fabric stores and many different styles of hand made arts. I didn’t find anything that said take me home, but I will probably go back Saturday morning and see what kind of trouble I can get into.

Since I am missing the feline children so much, I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to make friends with the La Villita Cat. Quite handsome and very friendly as the motor was going in high gear!

It was back to class and we were in our seats just in time so as not to miss a moment of what was being taught. We started off with a technique session on perspective taught by Tony relating to stitches for floors to achieve that flat look. Then it was on to stitching as the teachers rotated their table to yet another section of the room. As the 3rd day moves on, lots of progress can be seen as the canvases start to come to life. Meredith gave me some amazing stitches in the morning, Suzanne helped me look at the perspective with some tricky areas by having me look at the canvas in a different way. Tony helped me tweak a few colors of threads as we try to achieve the best look possible.

You know what amazes me most about this class? The knowledge in one room between Suzanne, Tony, Beth and Meredith and the chemistry between these 4 teachers! They really love being together and it shows.

This was Monday after lunch as the girls were having a little fun in Tony’s absence. We were missing him so much that they wanted to bring his aura into the room as Suzanne donned a mustache and some glasses…here she was having just a slight problem with the ‘stache. She was really quite good impersonating Tony!

Today is day 4 of class, life patron luncheon and Expo! Night…capped off with a Margarita along the RiverWalk. and until next time…keep on stitching

Mostly needlepoint you ask? well we will talk about my cats Sylvester and AlleyCat, better known as "the brat". Of course I can't forget Felix who was the love of my life for over 14 years.
