In my humble opinion, cats and potato chips are pretty much the same. I am sure by now if you have been following this blog for awhile, that you are convinced that I am slightly off my rocker and today is absolutely no exception! Now tell me, have you ever been able to eat just one potato chip? Well it is kind of the same with cats, as it is very hard to have just one cat. They are great company for each other and it makes it just a little easier leaving them alone. Besides they are very entertaining!
So with that thinking in mind, how I can just stop with one cat canvas? I first saw Santa Baby while keeping up with the chat on Stitcherie one early morning. I fell in love with him right away! Well it must be a him if he is Santa Baby. Can’t you just hear Eartha Kitt with her wonderful song of the same name? It is one of my favorites.
Immediately if not sooner I asked Ada if I could stitch him, pretty please? I would have been heartbroken if she didn’t say yes. Well one cat canvas became two cat canvases and so on. I hear that there are more of these cats to come. Oh no I feel that I am in trouble now! I just can’t say no to a cat canvas!
I was stitching on Witchy-Poo last night after my last care package of threads and beads arrived from Ruth. I looked at the two orange beads that she sent me and thought to myself “are you out of mind Ruth? these beads won’t work together!” Now I should know better than that, never to doubt her sense of color or what works, as they work, they really do. I am not like Robin, who brillinatly has the ideas and then tries out her stitches on Photo Shop on her Mac, I have to stitch a bit and take a look see before I can make up my mind. Sometimes it’s not even till I have taken a picture and look at it on the computer am I really sure that I approve. The books come out, I try another thread, another Kreinik a different bead or even another beading style.
I worked on the cats eyes, the witch and the moon, the four corners of beading the candy corns, the eyes and mouth of the pumpkin and then experimented with how I want to bead the pumpkin. Which color orange bead do I want to use? I am thinking that I would not bead the pumpkin solid, but rather will do it Ruth style as she did with the skulls on the Halloween Tree in her mystery class. Now where did the night go? before I knew it, Letterman was on! It seems like I just sat down and started stitching a few minutes ago.
I am still looking for that “purrfect” stitch for the border. Brenda inspired me with some great suggestions & ideas last weekend while I was in her class. Once I find what I just love, it will all come together very quickly! Ada has also sent me a few Halloween buttons to try and I thank you.
In case you are thinking, “is that AlleyCat sitting on the top of toilet?” and yes she is. Normally a few plants live there, notice the sun… well I moved them for a little drink and it took all of about 37 seconds before she discovered that spot to sun herself!
My stitch guide for Deco Kitty is all finished, but still lives in pieces on my Mac as it is time to double check my work and assemble it all together. Thank you to Elizabeth who answers all my stupid questions about Illustrator… and one of these days in my lifetime I will master that program! The house is clean, plants are watered laundry is done, so I will stitch the weekend away while watching baseball playoffs. If it is anything like Wednesday night, it is going to be a wild and crazy finish to the season. and until next time…keep on stitching.
37 seconds? Alley Cat is getting slow
As for other kitty canvases – Ada is on a mission. And we eagerly follow.
Also loving baseball – I will be pulling hard for the Tigers (I was born and raised in Detroit!) My beloved will be pulling equally as hard for the Cardinals – born in St Louis!
