A Visit to Mindy’s Needlepoint Factory!

Now who out there in needlepoint world doesn’t just love, love, love a Mindy canvas? Did I say love? Mindy’s Needlepoint Factory, located in Eugene’s 5th Street Public Market is a always a hopeful stop every time I head to the Pacific Northwest and the studios of Needlepoint Now.

Mindy’s shop is an eclectic mix of lots of her very own needlepoint canvases, threads, clothing, braids, trims and ribbons, along with antique buttons, more threads and more canvases!

Now how many Mindy’s do you have in your stash? I will own up to a few at the moment, with this one being my favorite. A dear friend of mine has been working on this one with Brenda Hart over the last few months and it is coming out great!

What is about a Mindy that I love so much? well it is the color, the design, well just everything! Her canvases can be stitched in basketweave or they can be transformed into masterpieces with decorative stitches, beads and more beads.

I absolutely love her display of pearl cotton, including a large selection of Valdani Overdyed among others.

I am glad that I am the one that doesn’t have to dust these shelves!

A beautiful selection of fabric for the linen or cross stitch enthusiast!

Most times when I am there, I can catch Mindy behind the counter painting her new designs. No charts, no designing on paper, just painting straight to canvas. She was pretty busy this day so no new canvases in progress, well for this time. I am sure that soon she will be designing for the 2013 Winter Market.

Mindy always has a table at Expo Night at Seminar and I knew that a few of her regular helpers weren’t going to seminar…so I asked her if she would need help that night? and she said yes! I am so thrilled! I just have to be careful not to add too many new ones to my stash.

For everyone who was looking for a report on our stitch~in from yesterday…it’s coming! it’s coming! I need to load my pictures, select the best ones, crop and…well tomorrow. I promise. I want to add a picture of my progress and share an idea that I came up with.

Today is the last day of the Olympics, I am sad to say and it seems to end all too soon. I will share the day with the tv while working on stitch guides and stitching.

AlleyCat thinks she is hiding from the birds. Silly Girl! and until next time…keep on stitching

About Vicky

Needlepoint, morning noon and evening! what could be better than this? I work on the computer in the daylight hours editing stitch guides and drawing stitches that you will see in the next Needlepoint Now for your stitching pleasure! In between this, there is time for taking pictures of my stitching adventures, Facebook and writing stitch guides for canvas that I am stitching for Needle Deeva, Maggie, Ruth Schmuff and others. Mostly needlepoint you ask? well we will talk about my cats Sylvester and AlleyCat, better known as "the brat". Of course I can't forget Felix who was the love of my life for over 14 years. He broke my heart as he departed for the Rainbow Bridge last year. Oh did I mention baseball?

  1. We have friends that just moved to Seattle and I can’t wait to visit. A trip to the Needlepointer and then a drive to visit another friend who lives near Mindy’s and a visit to that shop as well. A life filled with needlepoint, I don’t think anything (except husband and children) makes me happier.

    • yes not to miss Mindy’s shop! There are some other great shops in that 5th Street market not to be missed either along with the onion rings at the Steelhead Brewery around the corner…and then there is Harlequins Beads in Eugene too. Enjoy!

  2. Wow what a gorgeous shop, nothing like that in my part of the world down under, Iol – I will have to start saving for a trip to the US to visit all the needlework shops I see on blogs 🙂
