Stash enhancement comes in many different forms for me! A new book… a new plant… a new orchid! I hit the trifecta the other day when I purchased all 3.
A few years ago I started receiving gorgeous orchids as gifts and especially orchids from Adelaide’s, which is the most amazing florist located in La Jolla. I discovered that orchids did really well for me and I quickly fell in love with them! Well I always did have a green thumb.
Not what’s so special about orchids from Adelaide’s? well the blooms can last up to 6 months. Santa brought me a new pretty pink one last year, Missy & Francis sent me a gorgeous white one for my birthday and well my sister sent me a very generous gift-card for my birthday. And I hadn’t used it yet…what’s wrong with this picture?
Well my car took a little detour to La Jolla last weekend when I decided that I could use a little bit of retail therapy. I started out with the book first “The Orchid Whisperer” and I had been eyeing the large green plant for on my last few visits. I found out that it would do well in lower light, which means that I could place it anywhere, especially if I wanted to cheer up a dark corner. So that was coming home with me too.
I inspected all the orchids, to see if there was a new bloom that I couldn’t live without. See collecting orchids for me now is like collecting canvases…do I have that pretty pink one? or do I have that color? do I have that shade? Well I think that you get the idea!
Just when I thought it was safe to pay for my purchases and leave, my eyes landed on this combination of a mini orchid with 2 smaller plants in this very interesting pot. Ooh I just have to have this! It is planted purr~fectly since each plant is in its own separate pot so I can water each one as it needs it!
Here is a picture of one of my favorite blooms that has recently filled out in a blaze of color!
I plan on spending the day stitching away on Bastet and her beautiful lotus blossoms. I didn’t get lesson#4 yet, so I will just continue with this. I am being very challenged with the stitch that Ruth selected for the purple in the blossoms. Lots of compensation and I could see my thread as it traveled through the stitch. So out it came…I will give it another chance today
AlleyCat thought she would get in the bag this time! yes the bag is still on the floor..well with so much free entertainment, how could I not? By the way this is the bag that I carried that little orchid home in. I am convinced that shade of green is AlleyCat’s color. and until next time…keep on stitching
Love your blog and it’s a must read every day. Of course you’re stitching is awesome. I have 2 cats and love orchids. There most be some sort of connection to all three. I couldn’t do without any one of them.
I agree and I thank you!
