A Very Meowy Christmas!

Many years ago, because of the 4 legged feline residents of the house, well you know after all they do allow me to share their home with the…I stopped putting up a live tree. Allot of it was too if I traveled back East for a White Christmas, I didn’t want to leave a tree alone in the house and especially with the cats! I thought I would try a small live tree. Hmm, not sure about that idea.

Then for a few years I had no tree at all and that just wasn’t right. Well as the years progressed and I started stitching Christmas ornaments, thought I would try an ornament tree. I could mix the stitched pieces in with other ornaments. The collection grew by leaps and bounds and soon I ran out of room, so I bought another and yet another.

This is my kitty kat Christmas tree and I hang only cat ornaments on it of stitched, other handmade type ones or purchased. I do like to add one new kitty ornament every year, but I haven’t seen anything special enough this year. The bottom ornament on the right is one of a cat fish and is definately a favorite.

I’ve stitched kitty mittens, a Gay Ann Kitty heart, cats by Amanda Lawford, a few by Stitch~Its. There are a few special ones on there that were gifts from a group that I did an ornament exchange with. This one is getting full, but of course I can always find room for just one more!

The kitty mask is another standout, along with the cat made from a few wine corks by my neighbor downstairs. Then there is the silver piece that is made in the likeness of a merry go round figurine. The cat is holding a fish in his mouth!

Looking at the ornaments is keeping me in the holiday spirit as I work on the Needle Deeva Easter Egg House. The silk flowers are taking a little more time than I planned on. I think that I should have learned from Mr. Crow that it really needs more hours than you are hoping for. I like how it is coming out so far and I hope that you will all approve of it too.

There will be a stitchguide for this in the March/April issue of Needlepoint Now. So not only I am pushing to get the stitching finished, I will also need to write the stitch guide for it. I have all the threads listed as I work on that in between taking a little break from stitching.

I am goofing off this morning. Breakfast at The Cottage, a little thread shopping and maybe some other retail therapy. Who knows?

I was getting a few packages ready for shipping the other day. Notice where she has parked her behind? not in the box like a good kitty, but on my laptop! I think that it was still warm and I sure that is what she liked. and until next time…keep on stitching.

Needlepoint, morning noon and evening! what could be better than this? I work on the computer in the daylight hours editing stitch guides and drawing stitches that you will see in the next Needlepoint Now for your stitching pleasure! In between this, there is time for taking pictures of my stitching adventures, Facebook and writing stitch guides for canvas that I am stitching for Needle Deeva, Maggie, Ruth Schmuff and others. Mostly needlepoint you ask? well we will talk about my cats Sylvester and AlleyCat, better known as "the brat". Of course I can't forget Felix who was the love of my life for over 14 years. He broke my heart as he departed for the Rainbow Bridge last year. Oh did I mention baseball?

  1. Love your kitty tree and you have awesome ornaments, bet they got the cat’s stamp of approval. Looks like you’re all having fun. I guess black cats have a thing for laptops – when i work from home Midnight spends most of the time trying to walk through the keyboard.
