It’s National Cat Day!

Today is National Cat Day! “What greater gift than the love of a cat?” Charles Dickens once mused. Cats are one of the most beloved human companions of all time. They were first domesticated in the Middle East’s Fertile Crescent as early as 12,000 years ago. When humans relied on hunting as their main source of food, dogs were most useful, but when the first agricultural societies emerged, cats became invaluable. Domesticated cats became responsible for keeping grain stores free of mice and other rodents. Today, cats can be found in 34% of American households, making them the most popular house pet in the United States.

Pet lifestyle expert and animal welfare advocate Colleen Paige established National Cat Day in 2005. In honor of the occasion, celebrate cats and the unconditional love and companionship they give to their owners. If you don’t own a cat, volunteer at your local animal shelter or make a donation. It’s the purrrrfect way to show you care!  Quoted from punchbowl.com

This is Cat love canvas by Unique New Zealand and this is the one that I would be stitching if I wasn’t working on about 27 different must have to stitch…well I might be exaggerating just a little bit, but I am sure that you get the idea.

I figured that since I left my cats alone with the cat nanny, I could at least honor them by talking about them! This was how I left Sylvester. One of these days I will figure out how to pack him in that suitcase.

Just a little look see at my project. I am totally loving each and every stitch of this canvas. I have at least 2 more baseball games worth of stitching left on this area! At least though I am finished with the Flair.

Speaking of baseball…what great games and now we are going to have a game SIX! yeah! yeah! if you follow the game the ending last night was pretty wild and crazy and something I have never ever seen. And then tonight…well that was a rookie mistake as you can’t let get yourself picked off like that!

Now don’t these 2 look like they are guilty of something?
and until next time…keep on stitching

Needlepoint, morning noon and evening! what could be better than this? I work on the computer in the daylight hours editing stitch guides and drawing stitches that you will see in the next Needlepoint Now for your stitching pleasure! In between this, there is time for taking pictures of my stitching adventures, Facebook and writing stitch guides for canvas that I am stitching for Needle Deeva, Maggie, Ruth Schmuff and others. Mostly needlepoint you ask? well we will talk about my cats Sylvester and AlleyCat, better known as "the brat". Of course I can't forget Felix who was the love of my life for over 14 years. He broke my heart as he departed for the Rainbow Bridge last year. Oh did I mention baseball?

  1. Love the cat canvas! One more to add to my wish list, you are a great enabler for cat canvases! My cats would say dogs are always guilty oof something. You may have to wash your clothes before you go home or you will in big trouble.

  2. How wonderful that there is National Cat Day! A wonderful excuse to spoil them more but especially to give them an extra hug and treat for the pure joy they bring! Great cat canvas -Vicky, you really could be renamed Enabler! 🙂
