Keep Calm!

You know sometimes you just need some comfort stitching…you know sort of like comfort food? For me that is basketweave, beading and French knots, not necessarily in that order and not favoring any one over the other.

So why not do all 3 with this canvas? Wow I am in 7th heaven!

Susan Portra had suggested doing every other word in beads. The other words were to be padded with a satin stitch laid over. It worked great on the “K” and the “E”, but then the P I wasn’t so thrilled with my work. So I was going to try something else…well why not?

I learned from Meredith way back when…don’t rip out what you don’t like right away. Wait! Wait! Try your other idea first in a different area and then look at them both. You may find that the first stitch was the right one. I on the other hand liked the look of the French knots and that is the way I went. BTW, the word “and” is worked in cross stitch. It started out as a tent stitch, but it did need a little more, so I did turn it into a cross stitch.

The Keep Calm and Carry On original has really grown into quite the family of canvases! I ordered mine from Peacock Alley. How about one for Halloween? or Chocolate? or even for stitching? well Peacock Alley has them all.

Mine is pretty much done now, well all except for the background. I have my stitch selected, my threads at hand, but I need to reconfigure it for the count of the canvas. Who knows, I may even change the idea that I have in mind?

Okay Mother Nature, have you not looked at the calendar to see that it is October 1rst? well summer is still here and the temperatures again were in the high 90’s! The next few days it is supposed to hit the century mark. Okay when you see San Diego temperatures on the news, you see what is recorded at the coast. This is so much cooler than when you are living a bit away from there. The farther inland, the hotter it gets.

So the plan is not to work too hard, stay cool, drink lots of water and stay cool!

Sylvester is chillin’ and hanging out in his bag. and until next time…keep on stitching

Needlepoint, morning noon and evening! what could be better than this? I work on the computer in the daylight hours editing stitch guides and drawing stitches that you will see in the next Needlepoint Now for your stitching pleasure! In between this, there is time for taking pictures of my stitching adventures, Facebook and writing stitch guides for canvas that I am stitching for Needle Deeva, Maggie, Ruth Schmuff and others. Mostly needlepoint you ask? well we will talk about my cats Sylvester and AlleyCat, better known as "the brat". Of course I can't forget Felix who was the love of my life for over 14 years. He broke my heart as he departed for the Rainbow Bridge last year. Oh did I mention baseball?

  1. It’s my feeling that Mother Nature has reached menopause; hot flashes, mood swings, signs are there.

And I love, love, love seeing Sylvester in HIS bag
